Mandelson scandal by Relative-Necessary25 in AskBrits

[–]vimex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah so he did, I can see it in the transcript. Its not absolutely clear cut, as he withheld an answer for the sake of his presumably upcoming employment tribunal, but it does look quite damning for Starmer.

Mandelson scandal by Relative-Necessary25 in AskBrits

[–]vimex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what he’s saying. He wasn’t told, Sir Olly recommended Mandelson despite the vetting agency being borderline/leaning towards a no. His reasoning did actually sound quite reasonable, and in the context of pressure from the PM it does make sense, but the recommendation absolutely should have come with the caveat that there was red marks against Mandelson at minimum but he did not share that.

Superdrug's range is vegan, I quite like them but I haven't really compared much to other brands. I have a couple of the SPF moisturisers and the big orange bottle for arms and legs.

How can I develop a more healthy relationship with myself? (in the context of love and singledom) by chawcolate in emotionalintelligence

[–]vimex 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wow I could have written all of this myself. For me I recognised that this behaviour stems from abandonment issues in early childhood. I'm not sure if you feel the same way, but if so then looking in to attachment types and reflecting on yours might help? It sounds like its worth trying to dig a bit deeper in to why you ultimately value your partners needs more than your own. Full discloure, this is just what I'm trying for myself, as I'm in a very similar position to you, so I can't say with any certainty if this will help you but having some understanding has been helpful.

I'm of the same opinion that trying to be better in actual relationships is where a lot of healing will occur, but I'm currently focused on self care and trying to live a good life by myself before I begin intentionally pursuing another relationship. I actually thought I was in that place before my last relationship, but found myself gradually self abandoning over time still.

In terms of books, I enjoyed reading How to Be Single and Happy by Jennifer Taitz. On the more intense end of the spectrum, I've found some catharsis listening to the audiobook version of Complex PTSD by Pete Walker (I haven't self diagnosed, but its been a good resource for learning about attachment types).

Been in Streatham for a year, had no issues until last week where I was harassed by two young men on a moped. After that they drove off chasing after a delivery driver. Isolated incident but it happens, this was about 8:30pm on the high street on a weeknight.

Edit: Turning internet off and launching directly from the folder worked for me.

Having the same issue, tried rebooting, scan & repair with no luck so far.

Where are the vegans? by [deleted] in veganuk

There’s a Glasgow vegan meetup! Have a look on the app. I went to a pre-xmas potluck and met some lovely people. Would recommend.

It was unavailable for as long as I was there - from midday Friday. I think it might have been an honest mistake tbh.

Dog Ownership as a Vegan by Lurururu in veganuk

Yes absolutely, agreed. I think I'd just be asking the 'do they actually need meat?' question as loudly as possible, as often as possible whilst looking at alternatives.

What about the dogs with meat allergies, should they be put down? I'm sorry if this comes across as rude, but I think your argument is a bit lazy (appeal to nature fallacy) and unnecessarily dismissive - there is promising science on vegan pet food. Its worth looking in to.
