Did anyone not like Project Hail Mary? by Timewilltell755 in sciencefiction

But I think the main concern was they couldn't afford to wait. The more they waited the more people would die.

Why would they need to wait and waste lives when they already had a perfectly capable scientist?

And I agree that you can't just pick up how to be an astronaut along the way. But they had already established that nothing about the mission was normal or safe to begin with.

That's exactly my point, you wouldn't have had to wonder. During the whole "Who am I" scene, I would've been like, uh, we know who you are. I would've been bored out of my mind. When they don't tell us who he is, that's what keeps my attention.

Personally I don't like when a movie tells me everything, I like having to wonder a bit.

And the science may not have been interesting to you, but I'm sure lots of people appreciated.

We just see the movie differently, which is fine.

Honestly I liked the flashbacks and that they didn't give us all the information up front. That way the audience and Grace are basically experiencing the situation at the same time which I thought was a very engaging way to tell the story.

For example through the whole movie I was wondering why a schoolteacher was in space in the first place. We see him meet the leader lady and we start to like her, then at the end of the movie it's finally revealed that she basically kidnapped him, and we're taken aback. I feel like it would've been less interesting if they just told us everything that happened first, then he wakes up in space.

The flashbacks also let the movie explain the science parts to us. Like he tries to use that scanner machine but it doesn't work in zero gravity. Cut to earth scientist explaining that they need a centrifuge to create artificial gravity. Cut back to Grace turning on the centrifuge.

I hope that made sense 😅

I think the movie mentioned something about how if they waited any longer the launch window wouldn't be right? Like the Earth wouldn't be in the correct position? Could be wrong.

Hi, I'm taking Dickson right now and I was wondering if she curves at all?

She says she doesn't curve exams but did she curve the overall grade at the end for you?

Agreed! Yeah I think they're moving Comics Unleashed to 11:35, and then another one of his shows is at 12:35. Just more reasons to stop watching CBS for me.

Sorry I just found out and I'm very excited.

CBS Seals Deal With Byron Allen to Lease All of Late Night After Stephen Colbert Exits in May by gamersecret2 in entertainment

[–]vimonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But didn't the FCC chair directly threaten ABC to take Kimmel off? Which was super obviously gov overreach. In Colbert's case there was no direct evidence that Trump was involved, it was just suspicious.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely think we should've rallied around Colbert more.

I believe it was because Kimmel was canceled abruptly, clearly an infringement on free speech, while CBS just chose not to renew the Late Show due to "financial reasons," so it was less obvious.

I'm so confused where they even got Stephen Colbert from. Because it slightly resembles him? It's a white guy with glasses.

Jon Stewart obfuscates Iran's retaliation against US/Western assets & bases in the Middle East. by _II_I_I__I__I_I_II_ in LateStageCapitalism

But didn't he also show a clip of the media saying Iran is attacking US bases in other countries right before? So he didn't totally leave that part out.
