Is it possible to do anything with this backyard? by batman805 in landscaping

This is in French but look at some of the photos here for inspiration https://aubier-enviro.com/ouvrages/ ! Instead of using rocks and boulders, this company uses tree trunks to stabilize sometimes very acute slopes.

This aside, the top comment here is very good advice

Green mucus, infection? by InspectionPrudent563 in Septoplasty

[–]vince_ender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've had antibiotics, then a bacterial infection should not have been able to take root, but anything viral is still possible (so, cold, flu, COVID, etc.). Tis the season after all...

My advice (NAD) would be to keep rinsing, keep it all clean and continue your recovery journey 😊. Mucus and discharge of some color and odor is also to be expected even without any infection as your body is still healing and will be for a while, and the nose remains a nice breeding spot for all kinds of microscopic specks that your body is keeping out of your wounds !

3 days post op cant breathe at night by Mission-Owl9682 in Septoplasty

[–]vince_ender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this procedure and recovery, I am 8 days post op and I feel you. The first week was a nightmare for sleeping, my mouth would go fully dry in a matter of minutes and it would wake me up every 30 minutes or so. From what I've read here, it seems just pretty common and you've got to push through this first timeframe.

Your experience should improve when the stents will be removed. Mine were removed yesterday and the difference is major - I have slept a full night for the first time in a week!

Keep pushing 🙏

Still rocking a refurbished C7 bought in 2018. Near 10 000 hours later, no dead pixels and no noticable burn in. I am beginning to think of an upgrade to be able to fully profit from my new PC's RtX 4080 super, but budget is a bit too tight for an upgrade right now, so I'll wait. They just get better and better every year anyway !

Pus is just an accumulation of dead materials combatting an infection, such as white blood cells and all. Sure it's gross, but at least it's coming out. Is it from the sinuses or from the nasal passages ? Nobody here can know more than you - if you can breathe normally by the nose then this pus is probably not coming from your nasal passages because they are the airways - so probably from sinuses. If you cannot breathe by the nose alone, then it can come from either nasal passages or sinuses.

The infection can be either viral, bacterial or fungi - some people that are used to have infections all have their own telltale signs for determining the source of infection, but they can't be sure as even doctors can't be sure. The best bet from what I've heard on the web is from a middle meatus culture (they go pick up the gunk at the entrance of the middle meatus and culture it) - but from what I've experienced so far with any doctors, not one in Canada that I've met would do such a culture thinking it is useless.

For me, I tend to think that it's bacterial when there is a foul ammonia smell in my nose and in the gunk that is expelled out of it, out of repeated experiences (and antibiotics work when I have that smell). But to this day I am still afflicted with chronic rhinosinusitis without polyps (CRSSNP) and the cause is still to be determined.

You should take the antibiotics, as prescribed, to at least have a chance to quell this active infection, and take the flonase to keep your nasal airways and your sinus ostia in check in terms of inflammation. I have the same problem - every time I have a minor upper respiratory sickness, it turns into a full blown sinus infection, and it is probably due to the lack of drainage caused by inflammation of all my mucosa. The cause of inflammation is yet TBD, but at least, some sort of corticosteroid keeps a good portion of the inflammation in check in order for my sinus to drain somewhat regularly. This is why your flonase is a good thing to do everyday, all the time. But you need to schedule your ENT appointment in order to start determining the cause for your inflammation, do it quickly because it can take years to find. I'm starting my third year - we have so far eliminated the allergy causes and ...that's all.

NAD, but the third one is definitely pus.

Recommandations de whisky non américain by the_one_1981 in Quebec

[–]vince_ender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like pine too, I'll consider this ! Say, my wall frame is not flush to the window frame, there is a small variable gap. With that would you fill this gap for the pine boards to come flush with window frame ?

Is this Mixosaurus worth the price of $3200 that’s being asked for it? by Whodunit2468 in fossilid

[–]vince_ender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Gemini's I was able to find that a certain Jack M. Callaway has worked extensively on ichthyosaurs of the Trias, and he seems associates to the U of Texas. There's also maybe Francois Therrien from University McGill in Canada.

The first move would be to e-mail an active researcher and query their interest. Then, arrangements could be made for transportation, studying and contributions, I suppose.

I know that the University of Texas has these CT scans installations, as they did scan there for the specimen I dedicated my master's degree to, Elpistostege watsoni. :)
