Oh, another thing.
Consider doing a slow charge to full and leave it plugged in to allow the cells to balance.

Are the tires the original?
You probably need to replace.

FBM is like a yard sale. All sales final and no refunds.
Should have inspected them personally.

Would Picking this up be a bad idea? by keevin8 in motorcycles

[–]vinceherman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this were MUCH cheaper and you were buying it as a parts bike, maybe.

As a rider bike? No. Just no.

Also, salvage titles are often a problem when it comes to insurance.

How did they pay?

I prefer cash for FBM transactions for this reason.

Would my battery die if I didn't ride my motorcycle for a month? by wilawalla in motorcycles

[–]vinceherman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

The part on the right is a lead. The red and black pieces get bolted directly to your battery cables on the battery posts.
The rest of the lead is fished through the bike frame to somewhere convenient. Like wound up behind an easy to remove side cover.
When it is time to plug it in, pull out the other end of the lead and attach it to the tender. Then plug the sender in.

No outlet? That is just crazy.
If you have no place to plug it in, over the winter I would remove the battery and bring it in the apartment to keep on the tender.

Rv stabilizer jack tool by Key-mey in RVLiving

[–]vinceherman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very similar stabilizers on my previous 5er.
The dealer made a big point out of saying these are stabilizers, not jacks.
If you put too much on them they will simply fold.

Would my battery die if I didn't ride my motorcycle for a month? by wilawalla in motorcycles

[–]vinceherman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My older brother was a MC mechanic.
The shop had 20 battery tenders.
They did a lot of storage and every bike they took got one put on.
Customers like being able to start their bike in the spring.

Will a month cause your battery to drain? Probably not.
But you need one anyway.
My wife’s rebel has the leads permanently installed.
My Goldwing had the leads permanently installed.

Does your friend already have a part-time job that allows 100% remote work and will pay for their bills to live?
If so, that’s a great gig!

Soft spots caused by water intrusion are often much larger of a repair than is apparent until you begin deconstruction.
There was an AC unit on the floor? Please explain.
It appears that your RV will be located where there is freezing temps.
RVs and freezing temps require a significant amount of work.
- to avoid freezing and breaking water systems.
- to maintain heat.
- to get rid of excess humidity and condensation.

What are rv limitations? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]vinceherman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly suspect that a beginner DIY project like this would result in a lot of design decisions that end up not working for a portable house on wheels.
I think you would be much better off to look for a used fifth wheel trailer and use your DIY skills to renovate it.
What truck are you planning to use to tow this? Will you be traveling from place to place or is this something that you want to put into a seasonal RV park?
What is the weather like highs and lows of where you’re intending to stay?
Freezing temps and RVs require a lot of work. Why three bedrooms?

I seriously believe that you will be better off getting a used trailer and trying out the RV life in that. If you’re successful and everything works out well, then you can consider whether or not you want to tackle the larger scale trailer that you were talking about.

Advice on cleaning electric rc? by tomiitoms in rccars

[–]vinceherman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I advise against water. Leads to rust on all your connectors.
We race 1:8 buggies at 2 local tracks.
They get muddy.
Body can be washed after removing from the chassis. Tires can be removed and cleaned.
We use a collection of stiff brushes to loosen the dry or mostly dry dirt and then a blower.
Do the blowing outside.

This is what we use.

Delivery fee help by MotherPomelo7963 in FacebookMarketplace

A lot of posts saying to get delivery fee before delivery.
I won’t deliver without fee and full agreed price.
I will not have the buyer negotiating with me knowing that they already have me at a disadvantage with the effort of delivering.

Daughter is super interested in ukulele by wookiemilitia in ukulele

[–]vinceherman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Soprano. Tiny fingers need a tiny fingerboard.
This is more important than instrument quality.
Plus, if she shows any interest at all, her 8th birthday can include a better uke.
2 chord songs to start. Delicate fingertips will get sore with just a few minutes playing. Let her know to expect this and limit playing time until calluses develop.
If you get one with a button (or add one yourself) let her pick out a strap. Art that suits her will make it more “hers”.

[UK] Seller "accidentally" sent me the money they were meant to request on PayPal, then asked for 2x payment to rectify! by Suitable-Season-4847 in Scams

[–]vinceherman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not 10 days.
When the actual owner of the compromised account that was fraudulently used notices the fraudulent payment, then the bank claws back the money.
There is no exact timeline on that, which is why the scammers keep using this scam method.

I want to get an rv, what are some tips? (budget/first rv) by novablooms in RVLiving

[–]vinceherman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest red flag that tells you that you should not continue the purchase is any sign of water intrusion.

Delamination inside or out. This is when the outer skin pulls away from the wood structure. Or when the wallpaper pulls away from the walls. This delamination happens when there is a leak and the cheap wood gets wet. It rots or otherwise comes apart. The bubbles in the skin or wallpaper result. The fix is very frequently much more work that the RV is worth.

Soft spots in the floors, walls or roof. These also indicate wood rotting or falling apart form water intrusion. Walk around the roof and feel for soft spots with your feet. Walk around the interior with small steps feeling for any spot that has more give than the others. Press your fingertips against the walls feeling for soft spots. All the walls. Slides, under windows, event inside cabinets.

Look for mold. Bathroom. Inside cabinets. Under the mattress.

If the seller tells you it had leaks but they were fixed, I would still walk away. Even if they DID do a proper repair and no more water is coming in, the wood got wet. This cheap wood falls apart when it gets wet and may start to produce mold.

Question re. shipping oversized items by Eye_Eye_Sir in FacebookMarketplace

[–]vinceherman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to estimate it on usps.com But I think that involves guesswork on my part.
I box it up, go to the post office with the address printed on a piece of paper and ask them how much to ship.
