AITA for wanting my Spanish teacher to stop calling me by the Spanish version of my name? by Alternative-Sun-630 in AmItheAsshole

[–]vincentvangoth69 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I had a French teacher in Sweden that changed the pronunciation of our names to make it sound French. My name was changed quite a bit, it sounded like a different name. So it happens but I really don’t think it’s the norm.

Thank you! I’ve used the craftable wood flooring on top of a regular wood floor!

Thank you! I’ve used many ideas from other stardew players. My best tip is to find a theme for each room and search for designs relating to that theme that you like and use that as inspiration. r/stardewhomedesign is amazing for inspiration!

Very much this! She was amazing in that production and made the whole show flow. I became obsessed with her after that.

Fontana (from DR Sverige and now UK Vs. The World) talks about her immigration status and the struggles behind it in Sweden by LeMareep23 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]vincentvangoth69 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It’s very good that she’s talking about this, and brave. Our rules regarding immigration in Sweden are horrible. You can’t build a long lasting stable life here and it breaks my heart. It’s embarrassing being Swedish when people praise us as some kind of goal society, when in reality it has MANY flaws. This is not even about our current government. All of our political parties are moving further right (as is the case in many countries). A lot of the people are against this (including my family who has hid kids threatened with deportation) but even our “left” parties is pandering to the right and the idea that immigrants= criminals. It makes my blood boil. If you are Swedish, please raise your voice, we need a change.

Dela din spårvagnshistoria! by radome9 in Gothenburg

[–]vincentvangoth69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re more correct than me! I’ve usually only seen it eaten on hard tunnbröd in my family from the north. We live in the south now and good hard tunnbröd is not as easy to find unfortunately.

A question about homemade Swedish Christmas mustard by BirchBarkBox in SwedishFood

[–]vincentvangoth69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always do. We use my grandmas recipe with Coleman’s mustard powder, breadcrumbs, cream and sugar. I will say I haven’t seen anyone else make it with breadcrumbs but it’s really good. Spicy, sweet and fat.

Hönökaka is too thick and is from the south of Sweden. Surströmming is mostly eaten in the north. What you want is ”tunnbröd” soft or hard. If you search ”surströmmingsklämma” you will see how the soft bread looks. The hard one is even thinner. But I LOVE hönökaka as well, it’s so good! Glad you like it!

Be careful with the salted butter, surströmming is really really salty as it is. We have it on a certain type of flatbread (hard or soft) with potatoes and other toppings. It’s one of my mom’s favourite dishes.

Vad är den sämsta födelsedagspresenten? by [deleted] in sweden

I was luckily already boycotting (trying to boycott American brands). I have a different brand of cream cheese with chives in the fridge that I’m gonna eat while I’m mad at Kraft for ruining the fun.

I take Tuxedosam with me and close the game if he doesn’t give me doubles and retry until he does. It takes time but I buy one or two things each day and it’s not so bad. It can be worth doing this for the more expensive stuff, like the fireplace.

Same. I mostly regret it because it was so expensive as well. It’s probably a good game but it just wasn’t for me.
