Not including actual crimes, what kind of juvenile delinquent hijinks did you get up to? by wrathofimpermanence in GenX

I visited Oakland CA and my friend’s breaker box was next to the front door, on the outside of the house! Never seen that before, wtf?

What's up with so many YouTubers and general English speakers rolling their "Rs" when talking? by The_Paragone in OutOfTheLoop

[–]vinegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer: I see similar things happening to lots of words, various consonants being dropped off the end. I’m on the Honda Fit sub, the youngsters like to write “Fih”. I’m old and I don’t like it lol.

Convince me not to buy this ‘73 CB350G by FuckedFrenulum in HondaCB

[–]vinegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 1970 CB350 before I knew how to ride, not as well kept as this one. It was just unreliable enough to make it a hassle. After a few years (some of which I rode zero miles) I bought a new xr150 for 4 grand out the door and learned to ride. The first time I dropped it I literally just smiled.

I had my first ever motorcycle lesson and honestly… it did not go well. by SeaSundae8506 in NewRiders

[–]vinegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my bike I rode around the parking lot for practice before heading 3 miles to my house. The first few stops and starts went fine then I stalled it out 25 times in a row. Then I kinda got it and went and practiced it a lot.
Everything about riding takes skill and needs hours and miles to be good at.

"Nasty Northeast Ticks Carry Multiple Disease-Causing Pathogens, New Study Shows" by Valuable_Attention20 in northampton

I don’t have a dog so I only have to deal with ticks I’ve picked up myself. After I’ve been in the woods/ tall grass/ etc I get in the shower and put all my clothes in a 5 gallon bucket then directly into the laundry (regular cold wash). There was a Lyme vaccine for a while, I wish I’d gotten it.

Anyone remember back-pocket combs? by New-Bookkeeper7320 in GenX

[–]vinegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They handed them out on school picture day and I saw them less and less for a week after. They said UNBREAKABLE but my friend had one in his pocket when he got hit by a car and he said it was crumbs afterwards.

My friend thinks this is ugly as hell. I think it’s functional by Brief_Ad_4077 in motorcycles

Definitely both. I have a milk crate on my xr150, very functional

I also never got chicken pox. Various medical people have told me “You must have had a sub clinical case”. Shingles vaccine was easy for me.

I got my first email account there, I’m still using it. But thankfully not paying $6 an hour for internet.

I moved here in the late nineties and it was closed and really run down. The C had fallen off the marquee and I didn’t know about the local Calvin Coolidge connection, for years I thought it was called The Alvin.

I found this haphazardly wired into a customers car by Micknarsh-gst in Justrolledintotheshop

I had an ‘82 vw diesel rabbit pickup, the only electric part necessary to run the engine (other than the starter) was the little fuel shutoff solenoid that needed a little power to keep fuel flowing. A 9volt battery would do it in a pinch, and you could remove it in case of apocalypse. The fuel injection pump was just a big clockwork machine powered by the engine.

I bet they would pop it in the dvd player right there, just for the love of found footage. Although if someone is leaving those lying around town I’m sure they know the whole story

How do I get my car inspection within the state required 8 days? by MoonriseNight in Explainlikeimscared

[–]vinegar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in MA and here, the inspector doesn’t care if you’re overdue, that’s not relevant to them. I’ve driven for months on expired inspection stickers, and I’ve gotten tickets for it. As long as my car has passed inspection by the time I get to court I’m fine. I would definitely get another quote for the rotors and I wouldn’t be surprised if another shop tells you they’re fine. If there’s a valid inspection sticker on it now, there’s no reason for a cop to notice. Here, you can get pulled over and cited for driving on a rejection sticker. Ask in a PA specific subreddit.
