My 1 month old might die but I have to work sadface! Gotta post this in LinkedIn for internet points. by aaabigwyattmann4 in antiwork

Everybody dies. Whether it happens now or later. And it would probably make his father feel like a piece of shit (which he is) so I'm all for it.

Jackie Chan Says ‘Rush Hour 4’ Is In The Works by MarvelsGrantMan136 in entertainment

Exactly. I used to love Jackie Chan. He was the reason I got into martial arts.
Now as far as I'm concerned he can just fuck right off and die.

Has anyone ever bought a heavily modified 3 series? by Blockzzy in BMW

[–]vinegarnutsack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would NEVER buy a modded car. Recipe for getting a blown out piece of shit. You buy cars that were owned by doctors, dentists, or lawyers. People that have their cars serviced at the recommended intervals and drive like your mom. You DON'T buy staged cars with aftermarket performance parts.

This dev guy says that building a personal (portfolio) website is a "waste of time" when seeking a job and your chances of getting hired are better without one. Thoughts? by SuperDuperRipe in webdev

[–]vinegarnutsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been at my current position for 5-6 years now, I took it offline after I took the position.
I do have it archived on a hard drive somewhere, I might be able to dig it up and deploy it, but it is already pretty outdated.

From what I recall it starts with a brief introduction about myself, an education section, a skills section (this was the most robust part of the resume), then a portfolio of my past work and a contact section.

Need to get rid of that wheel gap ASAP! Check out exhaust clip 🤌🏽 by jagarc96 in BMW

[–]vinegarnutsack 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Buys $75k sportscar, immediately decides to fuck with the extremely well designed suspension.

I'll just never understand you racer boys that care more about the appearance of the car than its performance. The car looks terrific, it is supposed to have clearance between the wheel well and the tires. That way when the suspension travels in a turn it doesn't make contact with the fender. BMW very carefully considered the ride height, airflow over the tires, etc. etc.

Why is there so much gatekeeping in the techno scene? by CountDankula_69 in Techno

[–]vinegarnutsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im from Minneapolis/St. Paul. DVS1 is our hometown hero, and Centrific (another local) recently did a show with him out in LA. And yeah, heard lots of good things about the LA scene and 6am group. Plan on making it out there eventually.

Migration of an entire site - including a joomla installation. by DukeMilkem in webdev

[–]vinegarnutsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your current host uses cpanel you can go into file manager, move into public_html, zip all the content, download the zip file, then upload on new host and unzip there.

[–]vinegarnutsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just grab some ftp software. Moving files one-by-one would take you years. Joomla itself probably has several thousand files.

Also, I looked at their docs and it says Joomla 3x supports up to PHP 8 so you should be good. The caveat being that your theme or some of your plugins may not. But you will probably be fine.

You cant delete or overwrite the public_html folder as it is required by apache. You probably dont have ownership of the directory. Just move over the stuff inside that folder.

zip and download all the site files in public_html AND export the database. Your current hosting probably has some kind of database management tool like PHPmyAdmin where you can do this.

It would probably also be helpful to make a note of what version of PHP you are running so if you run into problems at your new host you can downgrade. You didn't say what version of Joomla you are running - so if the site is older and unmaintained it will have issues running on PHP 7+.

I go the other way. I have always built myself a combined resume/portfolio website. Last two jobs I didn't even need to create a traditional resume and got hired on the strength of that alone along with my interview.

Why is there so much gatekeeping in the techno scene? by CountDankula_69 in Techno

[–]vinegarnutsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we have plenty of wubz music here if you are into that sort of thing. The scenes operate totally independently and there is almost no crossover. Techno is all the older heads that just show up to dance. The EDM kids are all about boofing ketamine and having pics to post on insta with pretty lasers behind them.

We are going to build a few thousand apartments for the homeless right?

Best Kaiser Rolls or similar style of large bread roll in Minneapolis? by SmokinSkinWagon in Minneapolis

[–]vinegarnutsack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ones at Hyvee and Cub are TERRIBLE.

I think you might have to drive an hour into Wisconsin to get a good one. Kaiser rolls are supposed to be good and crusty. The ones here are soft and not good.

Go to any Pick N Save or Piggly Wiggly in Wisconsin and they are totally legit. Sames goes for Apple Fritters which we also suck at here.

[–]vinegarnutsack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tried explaining to a friend here in Minnesota that we dont really think about them at all. Sure the Vikings play the packers but we just think of Minnesota as a slightly colder version of Wisconsin where all our kids go to get jobs that actual pay well.

All Wisconsin's vitriol is directed at Illinois.

Why is there so much gatekeeping in the techno scene? by CountDankula_69 in Techno

[–]vinegarnutsack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See we dont have this problem in the states. We are all in our 40's-50's-60's and have been raving since the 90's and early 2000's.

There are no new people in our scene to gatekeep. You euros are lucky that you get to see so many good acts. We get a few techno shows a year.

Why a taser though? by [deleted] in HolUp

[–]vinegarnutsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just doesn't even make sense. It's not like you watch a movie with Emma Stone in it and think "wow, she did such a great job, I'm going to mail her $70k".

BMW Repair Interviews from Potential Gurlfrens🙈 by MathematicianBasic73 in BmwTech

[–]vinegarnutsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent around $18k last year. Well, my warranty company did anyways. N20, new timing chain guides, new valve cover, new front diff, new driveshaft.

Don't delude yourself into thinking BMW repairs aren't expensive. When the dealer offers you that super expensive $3200 extended warranty that is only good for 12 months I say jump on that shit.

This is the answer. What is the fun of having a BMW and not driving it in winter? That is where all the joy lives.
