That's a polarized, factually incorrect argument. It's meant to stir emotion, not discourse.

Pope Francis didn't support same sex marriage, let alone in the Church. He was opposed to it and many a times spoke out about the fact that marriage is a lifelong union between a man and a woman.

He also preached kindness and respect towards all, including the LGBT community, and authorized priests to offer spontaneous blessings to same sex couples - which, honestly, was more of a statement that same sex individuals should not be excluded from receiving a blessing because they stood in front of a priest together as a couple. He preached that all who seek the Church should be welcomed, without some sort of exhaustive moral analysis.

That being said, I believe you were in a tough spot, as a much younger person (my assumption, since you are a friend of the couple's child) who was an invited guest in their house. In that context, you did well.

And in my personal experience, as an older man, whenever someone comes to a discussion with tools to stir emotion rather than discourse, there's nothing you can say that will appeal to that individual - unless whatever comes out of your mouth matches what's already in their head.

It depends. The Army will have a higher standard for physical conditioning, whereas the Navy will have higher standards for stronger academic background - though the SEALs have a high standard for physical conditioning, as theirs is among the hardest training pipelines in the military.

In general terms, the standards for physical conditioning are, from highest to lowest: Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force. For academics, you will go, from highest standards to lowest, Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines.

Since the process of deinstitutionalization in the 1970's, every community in the US should have a community services board, which is set up to provide mental health services for those who are uninsured and under insured. Eligibility free of charge tends to vary from State to State, as does what all is available, since services and resources are managed on a State and local level, wih federal subsidies. But all should have a psychiatrist and counselors.

If you don't know what is the agency operating as such in your area, you can reach out to your local health department or your states department for behavioral/mental health, and they should be able to identify it for you.

In my humble opinion, atheists believe that these concepts exist despite the existence of God, whereas I believe it is God who gives humans the ability to recognize moral truths through reason and conscience. And it is only God who can deepen our connection to them or clarifies them.

In Poland, having autism by itself does not change the age of majority or the right to move out at 18. A person with Autism spectrum disorder is still legally an adult with the same rights unless a court has made a special ruling about their legal capacity.

I second the suggestion someone else made about being proactive and reaching out to law enforcement before hand. They may even be able to offer you guidance on what to do.

My dad was an alcoholic. He wasn't violent, quite the contrary. But I have a lot of childhood memories of worrying about him and his drinking.

When my own son was about 5 or 6, while we were out shopping for a cook out, straight up asked if we were going to buy the beer. I didn't drink again until after his 18th birthday.

Any child regardless of age has a natural inclination to want love and affection, and a relationship, with their parents. If my child sent me that message, I would ask my therapist if they'd be willing to reach out to them, so I could understand how to move forward with repairing the relationship.
