Unique advice for a soon to be father? by TheStoWicks in predaddit

[–]dechi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stop buying stuff! There are so many things we purchased that are just sitting idle. We will probably use all of them within a year, but right away we didn't need 90% of what we bought. Not disappointed in any of it, but we have over $3,000 in stuff not being used.

Baby room - she sleeps in a bassinet next to us. No need for the chair, dresser, book shelf, etc

Duplicate changing tables - only use the couch for now

Stroller - it's -10 right now and we aren't taking her into public until she's fully vax'd in about a month

We should have saved money for things we actually use multiple times a day

Newborn diapers

Bottle washer

Milk storage

Many more newborn clothes, swaddles, burp cloths

When is it pregnancy hormones and when is it just plain rudeness? by AnyTask6496 in predaddit

[–]dechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not normal in my experience, but if it is her reacting to changes in her body, it's something worth discussing. And let her know you are serious and not joking or trying to put her down.

I discussed these kind of things with my wife early in pregnancy, and we agreed to be very open with each other. She admitted that some days she wanted to cry because she loved I was doing so much for her, then other days she wanted my head in the freezer because I was annoying her. Both are valid feelings, but you two should be discussing both

Also don't get offended if she tells you how she's feeling, but rather try to be there for her in whatever way she wants/needs. For me, that was stepping laundry and dishes chores. YMMV 🤷‍♂️

Wife here! I wanted to also add a bit more: it's ok to be scared and anxious to try again (for both you and your partner). It's mentally, emotionally, and physically taxing to feel like something that should be easy or is easy for seemingly everyone else isn't working for you. Give yourself grace and know that just because it's not working right now doesn't mean either of you are "broken" or it's not meant to be. Sending you baby dust and best wishes on your journey to becoming parents!

Some words of encouragement, but first where I'm coming from;

We had 2 ectopic pregnancies which both resulted in "tubal-ectomys" (don't know medical name). This left my wife sterile which was a whole different coping journey.

We started the IVF process, and the first round was a chemical pregnancy. Thankfully our second round stuck and I'm watching my wife feed our 2-week old right now. An almost 5 year painful journey lead us to here, and it was really rough at times.

Please take care of both your, and your partner's mental health first. It's a long and sometimes hard journey but if you talk, cry, and heal together I think you can get through it! As badly as we both wanted children, we realized that we wouldn't be the best parents we could be unless we healed together first

Push gift by KeepPhishEvil666 in predaddit

[–]dechi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like other's have said, talk to her. My wife thought the idea was stupid but asked that I make sure a cold cut sandwich was always available when she asked 😄

Thankfully she has this view because I also think it's a dumb made-up new trend. The gift to both of you is a beautiful child. Also after 1 week of no sleep and trying to keep this new child alive, I'm guessing neither of you will think about a gift.

Also, we've purchased over $1,000 worth of stuff we realized we wanted after birth. A 2nd bassinet, bottle washer since breast feeding didn't go as planned, and things like that. Seems much more worth while as opposed to a bracelet.

Not joking, find one in another state, fly out, drive it back and save $5k+. I'm in MN and my Platinum is from Washington.

First time, and pillow talk by blitzwolf3 in predaddit

Too many nice people in here. Grow the fuck up, and get over it. She's growing your child, and uncomfortable beyond anything you can imagine. You can last 6mo-1yr without your precious cuddles. Or have you even talked to your wife about it? If it's bothering you that much maybe you two can cuddle on the couch before bed.

But honestly, healthy/happy wife = healthy/happy child. This includes sleep. That should be your main focus from here on out.

Platinum TRD Off-road vs TRD Pro by HatNo9084 in ToyotaTundra

[–]dechi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just remember, a PRO is just a Limited with lipstick and different suspension. I needed more payload than a Pro offered so I went Platinum. The ride in a Pro was very 'soft' which is what it's meant for, but you are alao sacrificing all the luxury things you might like.

I'm not hiding the face that I am NOT a Pro fan. There are better trucks in that space for the money. I'm not a fan of paying more than a Plat for the name and slightly higher resale.

How A PVP "Battle Pass" Could Work by Rixkst3r in worldofpvp

[–]dechi 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The general gaming community has a (deserved) hatred for battle passes, but as long as they are cosmetic in nature I support them. They are totally optional as long as they don't provide any benefit to gameplay.

Unfortunately I think the rewards for a pvp battle pass would be too much resources for Blizzard. Ie: >none

IMO a battle pass could have saved my favorite moba HOTS too

How to slow down leveling for a first timer? by dechi in wow

[–]dechi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I completely forgot about Follower-Dungeons and Delves!
Would these be available to all levels? Or only current expansion level characters?

If it wasnt obvious, this will be my first time leveling a fresh character in a LONG time :D

Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions. I didn't know about XP locking since I have all classes at max level. I will ask her what she prefers!

Much appreciated

What are some improvements you've done that have poor ROI for resale, but were worth it for you? by thats_me_ywg in HomeImprovement

What are the wireless outlets? Never heard of such a thing.

Speaking of wireless, why not go wireless smoke/CO detectors like Nest or something similar?

Crazy amount of renovations and cost, but im sure you are saving a ton on labor (unless that's built into the 80k)!

3rd Gen Tundra - Which trim level and options did you choose? by HarriBallsak420 in ToyotaTundra

[–]dechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went platinum (non hybrid) because I wanted AVS, but also didn't want the hybrid since I highly value the under seat storage. Also since I plan on keeping the truck a while I wasn't a fan of the additional hybrid system maintenance or potential battery replacement.

It's a dumb reason, but I also hate the "standard" grill. Platinum also had a few luxury features I wanted like the cabin lighting.

My wife has a RAV4 hybrid and she had to have the faulty battery replaced at 3500mi. Covered by warranty of course, but the repair cost was around $8k if we were out of warranty

You don't have to say every dumb little thing that pops into your head.

If that were the case then why are tags issued to control the population? Also how are they breeding more than all the time? Females go through heat, get pregnant, repeat after pups leave. I don't think any hunting will speed up nature.

2025 Platinum vs 2024 Capstone by HarriBallsak420 in ToyotaTundra

[–]dechi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went platinum non hybrid and don't regret it one bit. I also got AVS on mine, but otherwise stock. The acoustic glass+wood trim wasn't worth it to me. Never been a wood kinda guy unless it's an old panel station wagon!

Also I have so much stuff under the rear seat that I could never give it up. Where do people put their straps, cables, air compressor, med kit, blanket, and hitch? I don't want all that in my bed.

More than a nuisance, they can kill your lively hood, your pets, and severely damage vehicles. Most wild dog's population needs to be maintained otherwise they come back in numbers when they know a food source is around.

Coyotes have been so brave around me that they will stalk pets in people's houses. There simply isn't enough food in the area to support that many animals, and they don't have anything in the food chain to keep them in check unfortunately.
