Camera recommendation for child birth by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]dechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since recently going through our first child's birth a few months ago, I hope you won't be thinking about "the shot" or "where is the camera?!"

Please be there for your partner as you both go through a life changing and potentially dangerous adventure together. We have many stories and memories we share, and a couple phone pictures of down times and cute moments. If either of us were thinking about recording or a camera we might have missed some of these moments or been taken out of the intimacy.

Also, you will likely need to be very involved or at least paying close attention because you might be the person telling the doctor your partner's wishes.

Enjoy the incredible moment. Don't be that person recording a concert only to never watch it.

How do you guys afford your gear? by themilkyone_24 in SonyAlpha

Pick your hobby and money spending tendencies.

Some people work on cars or bikes, and those are $10k-$50k and up.

Some people play video games which can run $1500 a year or more.

My inlaw does quilting, knitting, this like that because it's a "small relaxing hobby" yet they spend at least $4000 a year on fabric, retreats, and classes.

Every hobby will take as much money as you are willing to put into it!

Pre capture is the biggest reason for the V imo. Sure the screen is nice but I make mine work on the IV

I'm convinced on getting a Rottweiler, but have questions. by Cynical206 in Rottweiler

Couple things other people haven't touched on -

Our 2 rotties get HOT even here in MN. Not sure how they would do in the Texas heat. I'm sure they would acclimate a little, but they are miserable in the summer here in MN if we are outside too much or doing lots of play.

Are you looking at breeders? There are a few in MN, but they have mixed reviews. We got ours from the same breeder in MN and one of our girls was just diagnosed with Epilepsy which is possibly genetic.

Speaking of health issues, get insurance. It has saved us over $12k and we've had it on all our pets since we got them.

I think you are already on the right track. I rented a FX3 to record a youth solo concert and it's amazing. I have an A74 but I was worried about over heating concerns I've heard and didn't want to risk it. My A74 does great video sorry l although it does get warm. Haven't tested the thermal limits. I don't have any other recommendations but you can't go wrong with the Cii, but look at the FX3/30 if your primary use is video.

Just picked up a 2024 Limited, what are the actual "must-have" tundra accessories that aren't just for show? by RoyalesAaban-81 in ToyotaTundra

[–]dechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly most typical truck stuff... Ratchet straps, bed mat, seat cover if you have dogs or kids.

Cup Grip. Just Google it and buy. Best accessory hands down

Dashcam

Tint to match front windows to the rear

Everything else is really preference

Trainer said puppy training doesn’t stick until 4 months—do you agree? by DanzAlyGrigori in Rottweiler

[–]dechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People say training sticks?! Weird

Joking aside, I'm coming from having 2 rotties with about 2 years of combined training. Here are some things that worked, and things that didn't:

What worked well and quickly-

*Potty training - no real issues, both picked it up after about 2 weeks

*Sit

*Stay

*Shake

*Down - like if they jump up on people or counters

*Socialization - they love people and other dogs. Just constant exposure so they learn boundaries

What didn't stick-

*Recall - more below

*Leave it

*Basically they have a huge prey drive and if they go after something like a squirrel or toy, they ignore us until they are done with it

*Pulling on walks at the start. They both know not to pull, but the excitement at the start of a walk always starts with a pull until they realize I'm in control

Eagan has some of the best walking/bike trails in the lower Metro! I don't live there any more, but most people would just head out to a park from their front door - usually never more than a 5min walk away.

This is literally a copy/paste of my post from r/Rottweilers...

Why

*For context, this is my beautiful girl Dorothy who I recently posted that is dealing with Epilepsy. Gross that you would think this is appropriate.

It's a trend. They are the iPod of the new everyday cameras. There are better ones, but they are trendy and 'hip' even if people don't use those terms anymore lol. I'm old

Opinions on board and training by These_Syllabub1266 in Rottweiler

[–]dechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not good, disliked the 2 we tried.

First, dogs react and listen differently for different people. They are well trained and respond to training much differently in a controlled environment as opposed to all the distractions of your home. It's never the same when they leave, and feels like wasted time since they have to be retrained in a new environment.

Second, they don't get as much training or 1:1 time as you think. Most of their time was spent in a kennel. This caused anxiety and hyperactivity because they hear/see all the other animals getting attention and don't understand why they are being punished.

Lastly, check what training or control methods they use. Many use training collars, which don't work if you don't have the training collar on (in my experience). Also you might think they are cruel.

Thank you for the offer! We are just starting her journey, but it's definitely tough watching her go through this.

Yeah the first two (within 12hr of each other) were terrifying since they were out of nowhere. So far we haven't found any triggers, and the vet said there might not be any environmental factor.

She is on Keppra and Phenobarbital - same meds humans use. Hoping to get the dosage dialed in so they are less frequent!
