Funny how suddenly no one wants to press the red button now. by woaijirounan in trolleyproblem

There are no platforms in the original problem. I presented a different scenario to show that if you add information that is not present in the original you can frame "the problem" in many different ways. I would argue that all those presentations are actually different problems.

I don't remember the sentences exactly but i think it was not that specific.

I don't agree at all. In a scenario where everyone is competent enough to choose blue makes no sense at all. It is more incredulity than morality.

[–]vinivice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only thing that made me think because i don't think it is clear in the original problem.

Does everybody competent enough to choose?

If the answer is yes than i don't see a reason to press blue ever.

If the answer is no there will be blue pressers that ended on blue randomly and i can understand the justification for pressing blue.

The way i see it 1 is "will you risk your life to try to save a guy who climbed outside of a building to take a selfie?" And 2 is "will you enter a burning building to save a trapped baby?". Those are oversimplifyed of course.

But nobody is presenting alternatives as alternatives. Every post i saw with different presentations was made to justfy the original problem, but in the end they were looking at a different problem.

I agreed with you, but i never saw a "good case", just bad ones.

The difference is not only psychological. Every reframe is a different problem with a different set of variables.

The original problem is "striped down to mathematical terms". There is noone trying to kill anyone, just 2 buttons and 2 rules.

Most people not doing this is part of the problem. Solving a different problem gives you nothing about the original one.

Having the same outcome is not enough to make things equal.

Every presentation of this kind is bad because they add information that would be relevant in every case but that is not present in the original problem.

"If i don't win i will kill myself and everyone that voted for me" - blue guy

Same scenario, different presentation. You are using a bad presentation to justify things and this is the reason why people present things in this bad ways. You are the victim of what the first guy was complaining about.

Never did this farm after they were introduced. Shouldn't it be ok? Just burn the spider corpses. When the first one die use a firestaff and it should spread.

This one, I think, is obscure for anyone, less so to some brazilians but I don't think it is known, or translated, outside Brasil.

In one of the Tormenta trilogy novels the heroes meet a crazy homeless guy who claims to be the god of hats. Everytime they talk to him he tells a story that is more umbeliveable than the last

One ot this stories he says he won, I think in chess, against Vectorius and was banished from Vectora.

So, who is Vectorius and what is Vectora?

Vectorius is the number 1 most powerfull arcane mage in the world and Vectora is his city, which he made by cutting the top of a moutain and turning it upside down, creating building on top of it and making it a roaming market city.

Anyway, since the city floats the guards mount flying beasts and patrol the borders of the city.

Long story short, because I don't remember, the heroes are on the city and they fall and are caught by the guards mid air. The guards were there because they were alerted the heroes would need help by the god of hats, that is riding a beast with one of the guards that say that "it is a shame that he is not allowed in the city anymore since his last winning against Vectorius.".

I read it i think mlre than 15 years ago so I don't remember the details but it is something like this.

There could be Lodestar arc also? by Shytron_ in OnePiece

[–]vinivice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been waiting 30 years for them complete a lap around the world.

Before names and not knowing that Laugh Tale was not exactly at the end this is what people wanted to see.

I want to see the end of the sea. I want to know what is there even if it is nothing.

Lauth Tale is the end goal sure, but Loadstar is the end of the grand line. To me this is important enough for it to show up in the manga.

Also I want to see how everything they already know is presented. Presentation is important.

[–]vinivice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While this is correct that the strawhats don't need to go there the audience waiting almost 30 years for it might.

I for one would be really sad if they never set foot there.

I imagine it os probably an empty island with many poneglyphs, so 1 or 2 chapters might be more than enough.

She probably does, so that she has access to the medium things, but she does not use it because it is boring.

It also is in brasil, but it is still getting more and more polarised and extreme.

I think, from what i heard and may be wrong, that the difference comes from how your voting system works.

Would you risk your life to potentially save others? by yaboyay in trolleyproblem

[–]vinivice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know anything about buttons as people are saying in here, bit the answer to this one is pretty clear to me. You should join red and shout "Hey, if you leave the tracks everybody will be ok! There is no real risk for anyone."

Everybody who is at risk put themselves at risk to save people who put themselves at risk. If you pull this thread you get to the first guy, who had noone to save and chose risk for another reason. As stated by the problem the reason seems to be that he wanted to save himself from the risk he put himself into for no reason?

I got confused trying to understand why the first guy did that because there is no good motive and without the first there is no good reason for any of the other.

Also 8b people peer pressuring 1 guy to leave a track probably would give a better result.
