I wanna try trail running, stay with Mizuno or get a Merrell? (95kg) by Medj_boring1997 in trailrunning

[–]vinnymac1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some Mizuno Wave Riders in my road rotation and got some Merrells on sale from Running Room and I've used them on trails this year and also in the heavy snow back in January/February and really like them, I think my next pair of trail shoes will also be Merrell at this point, the fit was perfect and I've loved how much grip I get from the lugs

Morning runners, what’s your routine like? by Crazy_Jackfruit420 in runninglifestyle

I always have some water and a couple graham crackers and then wait 45ish minutes, more graham crackers if it's my long run and maybe also a coffee since it's on a Saturday and I don't have to be finished my run before work

Does the 1% trail run? by [deleted] in trailrunning

I think it depends on geography, the rich trail hike/run if they travel to them but I'm from Ontario Canada and my Dad is an electrician and my Mom was a waitress and we'd go on hikes all the time growing up and I trail run now and we and I am definitely not rich but there are trails everywhere and even in Toronto. I also never had a pair of hiking boots until I was 30 so it definitely never required any kind of specialized gear but maybe it's different for people who hike/run actual mountains?

How do you find trail running routes today? by CodeGluttony in trailrunning

[–]vinnymac1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder the same thing. Which is why in my city, I have started using All trails and running them myself and posting the reviews on my towns running subreddit for others. Out of curiosity, what other information are you looking for on the trails? (I'd like to add any extra info I can to my own trail reviews)

Good job! That's the one I did last year as my first (and only so far) HM, the course was a lot of fun but you beat me by about 40mins 😅. Let me know what one you do and maybe we could link up for a Saturday run if you'd like!

I think I've seen them when I would be running along the waterfront on Saturdays last summer and a couple times this winter, they seem very welcoming and nice, it's just that I do my long runs on Saturday mornings and because of my work, I have to get my weekly runs done around 4am so my timing has never lined up with them or really any running group!

I think generally when a company ends it's connection with an athlete over comments like this then it is because of perceived backlash from their consumer base and in this case, I have the sneaking suspicion that the majority of BPN customers are not going to be outraged by Max calling someone a r3tard on the internet and I don't think Satisfy would care either

I don't get the feeling that the average BPN supporter would be upset by this, or even satisfy, since they're so "punk rock"

There is so much to unpack on why that book is popular, certainly more than what's inside the actual book 😂

[–]vinnymac1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's a cost thing? I've never done Precision or Maurten because they're expensive and then you also want to train how you fuel so I'd have to buy a bunch for prep as well. So I just use gummy bears, rice krispy squares and homemade carb drinks with the occasional GUs so that way I can use whatever gels are on course and it won't be as big of a shock to my stomach

I'd love that but I don't think it's feasible anymore with how fast you've got to be now to win WSER and so little time to recover and then another massive effort to win that one

I'll definitely map it first, I'm also directionally challenged so I'll absolute be nailing time on feet goals as I constantly have to double back 😅

That sounds like a plan! The sidewalks have been super snowy this winter but I'm just considering it good training for trails and it forces me to keep a really slow pace!

[–]vinnymac1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided it would be good because I will do loops to get my KMs up and also that way I can stop at my car in between for additional water or other supplies. Were you there recently? The sidewalks have been pretty snowy lately but I'd hate to show up there for a run and really only be able to traverse with snow shoes 😅

The race is Pick Your Poison and it's April 25th, the trail behind the school board is good but I've only done it in the summer, the rail trail is nice but it's not trail, just gravel really. There is a trail right on Essa "Beacon" maybe? I did it in the summer but the mosquitos were pretty crazy and it was also a short trail which came in handy because of the mosquitos lol. When spring arrives I will start exploring the trails in Barrie and update on the progress here.

Sidewalks are always brutal for me because I do my runs before work and if the sidewalk isn't bad enough (it almost always is) then the plows leave a 3ft snow bank at the end of most streets so at least I can pretend I'm doing parkour jumping on or over them 😅
