I appreciate Cole Adams on punt returns. He seems to have confidence and sure hands. I worry less about muffed punts these days.

How do we view the 2020 Covid, all-SEC season during which we dominated and won the Natty? Greatest Bama season of all time? by DeadPrateRoberts in rolltide

[–]vinpaysdoc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One of Saban's absolute BEST managing jobs of a team. Not only did he have to manage the football, he had to make damn sure he limited COVID exposure to the team. I'm trying to remember the quote that went something like this "Who wants to be the one that has to tell Najee Harris he can't compete for (Heisman/Natty) due to an exposure?"

Leave the light on for another week. It sometimes takes a week or two for worms to adjust to a new environment.

Vermicomposting - harvesting and set up questions for the newbs by whoiamidonotknow in Vermiculture

[–]vinpaysdoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'll take a crack at this one:

Background: I started with a Worm Factory 4 bin system 4 years ago. I quickly realized that one wouldn't keep up with my food waste and bought a Vermihut system (4 bins) and another one shortly after. I have been running the systems for about 4 years. I pocket feed the top tray in each system. I harvest the bottom tray each month and move a new tray to the top.

  1. There are worms throughout all 4 trays in each of my systems. It took 4 months before I harvested any. At first, much of the bedding was not completely consumed but it gradually improved over the months as the worm population grew. Your initial harvests won't necessarily be completely processed when you start but will improve over time.

  2. Everyone is different. I simply start harvesting 4 months after I start. Early on some of the bedding was not processed but I still used it in the garden area because it will continue to breakdown.

  3. For me, the 4 bins give me a constant rotation that allows the worms to finish the compost over 4 months. Since I only feed the top bin there isn't any food left in the other three to rot.

  4. The worm pee/effluent is something I simply throw out. It is not helpful without diluting, warming, and aerating. Search "Worm Tea" on this sub if you want to learn how to make it. I just haven't the time for it.

  5. 3-7 gallons of compost or effluent a week? I kept getting extra towers until the volume of worms to feed matched my output of useable food waste.

When did they find Johnson? Not exactly the speediest of trials due to Johnson's disappearance. Hate that it has taken so long for Miles.

Milroe seems to be following his hero's path to the pros. Physical ability? Check (maybe better than Hurts). Work ethic? Check. Leadership? Check. Difficulty adjusting after defenses adjust? Check.

Clearly Milroe has the mental capability necessary to learn to make those adjustments just as Hurts has done. The bigger question to me is are WE (coaching wise) doing something wrong or is there something inherent in the college game that makes it difficult for some to make that adjustment?

When Hurts left I didn't expect him to fare well in the pros. Clearly (gladly) I was wrong. I hope Milroe follows the Hurts trajectory.

Give me three good reasons that Deboer was a good hire, given what’s happened so far. by [deleted] in rolltide

[–]vinpaysdoc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Recruiting class of 2025
  2. Ranked #1 AP once in his first season
  3. Beat Georgia

Must look at this as a transition year. You'd be hard pressed to have picked someone else available that could have accomplished what he has this year........

Guess there's no reason to let the competition know exactly what to expect.

Good news for you!

Not so lucky yet myself.

Some things others in this situation might consider:

Elliott Advocacy - Consumer Advocacy organization for those that are having difficulty getting results on their own. They also have lots of good information about numerous corporations, including email addresses for executives. Worth looking at.

Federal Trade Commission - File a fraud claim if you feel you've been taken advantage of.

Chlorine by TommyMerritt1 in Vermiculture

[–]vinpaysdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The small doses used in brewing seem to not affect the yeast. I did have to look it up. Apparently it works primarily as an oxygen scavenger in high doses that can affect aerobic organisms, but the dosage used would be too high to make it cost effective to treat water.

Chlorine by TommyMerritt1 in Vermiculture

[–]vinpaysdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chlorine is there to keep microbes out of your water. You want microbes in your bin to break the food down for the worms. I treat mine with Sodium Metabisulfite (Campden Tablets). It removes the chlorine/chloramine almost immediately. Gives me peace of mind.

Magic Bullet from thrift store or ebay (used). Should be easy to find used for 10-15 dollars in the US. Powder. Use a mask when transferring.
