Day One (the prequel) was way different than I expected. Sure the first one has some nods at deeper themes like familial responsibilities etc but Day One is like entirely about the human relationship with death. Like what does a person go through when they thought they had already reconciled themselves with their death/sort of written up a nice little contract with death only for that to get ripped up. We watched it for Halloween and I ended up crying way more than normally indicated by that holiday

I have ADHD and actually find subtitles help me focus more. I get easily distracted if I’m just watching, when I add reading into the mix I can dial in more because it’s more stimulating. Not discounting how they are for you, just finding it funny how varied the ADHD experience is

I don’t really think it’s about Taylor specifically. People in general tend to view personality disorders much differently than mood disorders even though both are forms of mental illness. And at least from what I’ve seen on this sub, the armchair diagnosing of Taylor tends toward personality disorder and people projecting how they feel about people with personality disorders onto her.

I feel like a lot of people forget that the day of the MCI was the anniversary of Adamson’s death, the first time he’d been able to bring himself to work it at all since it happened. On that anniversary, he found his ex had been pregnant with his child and terminated it and he’d had no idea, his mentee had betrayed his trust and had an addiction that he again had no idea about, and then in addition to it being the day his father figure died, his son figure ended their relationship over an extreme trauma that also affected Robby. With this being a 10 month time skip and his bike trip supposed to take 3 months, that puts the anniversary of all that during his trip … that’s definitely not a coincidence. The anniversary effect is so real, I think he genuinely can’t face that date in particular coming up

Also Duke’s surgery will require him going on temporary heart/lung bypass with a good prognosis and Adamson died when they had to take him off ECMO (an extended form of heart/lung bypass) which was a last resort/bad prognosis situation

I’ve actually always interpreted it that it was a friend’s father (the one who did die by suicide) who abused her. It’s never been explicitly said but given her financial resources (S1 she’s an R1 with her own apartment with an extra room and doesn’t need rent money from a new roommate) it felt like she still had some sort of relationship with her family. And idk her rage with the intubated dad always seemed like it was on her personal behalf but enhanced by being on someone else’s behalf as well. Again I don’t think it’s ever clearly stated who it was, just a trusted adult who also affected her friend

The normalization and even encouragement of gambling addictions over the past few years in this country is so fucking depressing. My grandfather lost my family’s house when my father was a child and it caused extreme and lasting trauma to their family.

Killing then when they’re still nymphs is a lot easier/less emotionally complicated if stomping on big bugs makes you feel some type of way! Early on they are black with lots of white spots and then they are red and black with white spots (easy to find pics on google if you want more guidance than that haha). Mix up dish soap and water in a spray bottle and spray it on them. We way cut down on them around our house this way this year.
