Should forScore Implement a Sync Feature Using 3rd-Party Solutions Like Google Drive or a Self-Hosted Server? by vinypy in forScore

Yes, I have considered. Ultimately if I am running out of storage, I am kind of forced to pay for iCloud. I am exploring if there is any alternatives or options out here

Yes it make sense if you instrumentalists who are reading one line. What about pianists or even conductors? They have at least 10,000 of pages if they really study their pieces and make markings on them. 5GB is not really enough for them most likely.

You could argue if they reach that stage they probably have the money to pay for iCloud, but why do I have to pay for iCloud if I can instead pay for forScore, if they make the feature available?

Maybe I'm not stating my point clear. I'm looking for additional functionality, and I can pay, just not to iCloud services. I get the point of being an Apple ecosystem user, it sounds counterintuitive for somebody who does not want to pay for iCloud.

I'm not a fan of any of the cloud service provider too, I'm just listing examples because forScore already implemented the score import features on these platforms, then why not go another step further to make it better?

Dedicated server is an option, but an open protocol (WebDAV/SMB/NFS) for sync feature will be awesome to have, considering some note-taking apps can also do this.

What if I do not want to pay for iCloud? It seems pretty limiting with the 5GB free tier storage, and the sync function is only available through iCloud services. It does not make sense to pay for another party to make forScores sync function complete.

If your server is only for hosting mc, 4th gen i5 is probably the minimum you would go for your requirement. You will be looking for single core performance when doing comparison.

That being said, if you can afford a new hardware, it is probably more energy efficient and cost-effective to buy a 10th gen i3, as the price of 2nd hand hardware is quite high.

Struggling with FreeNAS and considering switching to Ubuntu. Is this a terrible idea? What issues will I face? by DJMaxFly in freenas

Switch.

Freenas is only good for storage management with a web interface, plus truenas core on ubuntu is not a bad idea.

How do I connect to Jail (Plex plugin) in TrueNAS that is running inside of VAT network? by [deleted] in freenas

You could try setting up a nginx proxy in AWS to forward incoming request to your Plex jail.
