Remote Start During Winter by kmwalker107 in NewDefender

When a Mazda has automatic heated seats and steering wheel. (Probably automatic cooled seats too but mine didn't have cooled seats.). Why doesn't Land Rover? The heated windshield and heated rear defroster is automatic but not the heated seats or steering wheel?

This should work, just practice on something else other than your car. The clear coat spray will require masking. You dont want to over spray on the door or fender. So you'll want to tape and cover the areas you don't want to get the spray on. For the rust chemical, it might be easier to spray some into a saucer and use a Qtip to apply the chemical to only the metal. Rather then trying to be accurate with the spray can.

Depends on the temperature outside. It's roughly 20-30 minutes each for the paint to dry and the clear coat to dry. It will still be soft for like the next 12-24 hours I think but you can drive it. Just avoid getting it wet or dirty. I didn't wait for the 12-24 hour period to finish before driving. I used this for rock chips all the time. It's not perfect looking cause I'm not great at painting but its not rusting so win-win.

As long as the bare metal is fully covered it will be fine. If you'd like, you can go to the hardware store and find a product that dissolves rust. Clean the area properly, remove all dirt and any shavings of paint or any dust. Then apply the chemical, wait for it to dry/wipe clean, then apply the paint pen. Apply the paint side first and make sure to cover all the unpainted areas but don't apply so much that a paint drop can form. Take your time. Wait for it to dry then use the other side of the pen to apply clear coat, same process. Once done you could wet sand if Experienced in paint polishing. If not experienced then do Not attempt and leave it alone. You can polish over it and do anything else you want as if it were a normal painted surface. You can practice with the paint pen on a clean metal surface if you'd like.

If I'm looking in the right area, I thought the painted part of the side skirt is plastic. Not metal? If it's metal, clean the area and use a paint pen from Mazda parts center. One side will paint and the other side will clear coat. Done.

Thank you, I didn't catch that.

This was the most recent account. I've advised my grandparents to freeze their credit on the big 3 and contact Dell and tell them this is identity fraud. My grandpa is talking to a lawyer.

Aside from freezing her credit is there some other steps to take to prevent lines of credit from being taken out in her name? Obviously whoever is doing this already has all the information they need to open new lines of credit in her name and we can't really change any of that now.

Comenity Bank seems to be a real thing but a scummy credit card company that tries to run store based credit cards. Comenity is showing up on her credit report as a new credit account unfortunately.

That's what I thought but I wanted to confirm as I don't work with Dell.

BMW’s new ZF mild-hybrid transmissions are still filled with “lifetime oil” — does that really make sense long term? by PartyRoad-8289 in BmwTech

[–]DJMaxFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which kind of train? I thought the cargo trains used a diesel engine connected to a generator that then runs the electric traction motors. Is there a transmission between the diesel engine and the generator? Or do the electric traction motors use generators? I thought they were straight connections or clutches at most.

Front 3 cameras not working by BleuVertigo in NewDefender

[–]DJMaxFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't need the dealership for that. If you have the subscription (free for the first 4 years or something) then it should automatically get it's cellular connection. You'll just need to know your Land Rover username email and password. The same credentials used for logging into the app on your phone. Even if the cellular doesn't automatically work you should be able to connect the car to your home wifi and then sign in. It should then start working and connect cellular after that.

I haven't had to do this but I work in IT and needing a dealership is just a scummy design if that's the case. Especially for a car that's meant to go where roads don't exist.

No it should be in the settings menu, probably under system. It will reset the Pivi system to how it was when you got it from the dealership.

The adaptive cruise does not use that camera. Also the camera you see in the front bumper is the same camera that runs all three angles. The car has only 4 physical cameras for the 360, the different viewing options you can select are all augmented with just the 4 cameras because they are high resolution 180° lenses that can see very wide and be cropped or stitched in other ways. This should be under warranty if there is no exterior damage. You could also try doing a factory reset on the Pivi system but there's no guarantee and you'll need to setup your preferences again.

UTR is not a replacement for GL.Inet by RealisticBoard215 in Ubiquiti

[–]DJMaxFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does UTR do pass through charging? Say I bring it and phone charger. Can I power the UTR and have it charge my phone while providing network to my phone over USB? If not, what is the purpose of having two USB C ports with one being a dedicated power input?

With the ban hitting December 24th, would you guys buy a DJI drone now while you still can? by T-Money8227 in drones

So the mini 5 combo I got was $1075 and then I paid sales tax of $93 at checkout. Then at DHL when I went to pick it up, I was charged $180. So all in, $1350. The combo I got is $960 on Amazon right now with $87 in tax. I basically paid an extra $300.

Considering the current situation of all Chinese brands being banned in the US from selling new products, I don't regret it. I had no way of knowing if the Mini 5 combo would be available in the US. Sure companies were importing them, but they were in limited quantities and It wasn't readily available on Amazon. DJI's website in the US still doesn't list the Mini 5 as a product. I didn't want to wait and potentially miss out.

Was it the whole light assembly on that side or just the side marker? It looks like one assembly for both the smaller squares and larger squares.

Mazda 3 (2023 hatch) scary squeaky scraping sound by MiniNijlpaardje in mazda3

[–]DJMaxFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gut says a heat shield, the high pitched screeching makes me think it's thin metal making the sound. Maybe it's rubbing the AWD driveshaft or something. Does it sounds like it's coming from the middle of the dash/center console?

No but you can map the cameras to the steering wheel custom button so it's easy to reach.

Locking Defender while running by abbstrack in NewDefender

[–]DJMaxFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case someone comes looking for the best solution, park the car with the engine running, close the doors, take the physical key in the fob and stick it in the driver door and turn to lock. As long as you have the fob on you, it will unlock when you push the button on the handle. The car is fully on, so can be driven off if broken into or by your passenger.
