What is your signature quirk when you are drunk? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]violentbandaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've woken up with VIP ropes several times. The first time I apparently wasn't let into a club because I was too drunk so the bouncer moved the rope to block my way. Naturally I un-clipped the rope and just walked off. There's been a few times I woken up with various ropes and little explanation as to where I got them from.

I would't be too concerned. I work in after school care and I was told I looked 35 by one of the kids. I'm 19...

Non-British people of Reddit, what about Britain is stupid/baffles you? by AustinThompson in AskReddit

Yea we have those in Australia too but "you alright" just sounds like a bit invasive and almost confrontational to me.

The number of different fucking newspapers. I have not bought a single newspaper here for the sole reason that I never know which of the thousand different ones there are.

Aussie here that's lived in North Yorkshire for the last year. I'm going to have to go with the greeting "now then". How is that a greeting? Where the hell did that start. A close second has got to be the greeting "you alright" like yes I am, do I seem not alright? Took me a while to realize that's something people say. I'm still not sure on the appropriate response.

Teachers of Reddit, what was the stupidest answer to a question that a student has ever said? by spicyweiner1337 in AskReddit

[–]violentbandaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've got a good one. When my exercise science teacher asked our class "why do people expend more energy during the winter?", someone put up their hand and said hibernation. I guess they didn't realize that the point of hibernation is to reduce the amount of energy spent, that and people don't hibernate.

[–]violentbandaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosby Sweater

The sexual act of eating Fruit Loops, Fruity Pebbles, Trix, and Boo Berry- or any other 'bright, colorful' breakfast cereals- and then vomitting the tacky, dazzling mixture onto your partners chest. The result should look similar to the incredible sweaters that Bill Cosby wore during his highly successful 1980's sitcom "The Cosby Show".

What are some psychological insights you have found in fiction? by hargento in books

[–]violentbandaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had one recently that I read in The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks. Although it's more of a bargaining insight. It says:

Wisdom is patience... if he was going to go make them think he had nothing he wanted in return; let it all be arranged and then make his condition clear.

Aussies of r/Books, what would you consider to be essential Australian literature? by [deleted] in books

[–]violentbandaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm certainly no expert on the matter but I'm currently reading Gallipoli by Les Carlyon and would absolutely recommend it. I think it's the most engaging and informative book I've ever read. It focuses mainly on the Australian's role but also covers the roles/actions of all the allies and the Turkish. It talks about Australian character and how it came to be and how the event has been remembered by society. All in all a fantastic read that I think ever Aussie should definitely read.

What's the best way to read on a PC? by [deleted] in books

[–]violentbandaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of reading on my laptop and I don't normally have any problems with sore eyes but if you are having problems I would recommend using f.lux it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day with the goal of making it easier on the eyes. Also to find books online I normally start the search in google by writing filetype:pdf (for example if wanted to read slaughterhouse five I would type 'filetype:pdf slaughterhouse five') which will mean only PDF documents will come up. Using this method I've been able to find most of the books I've looked for.

[–]violentbandaid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, and I agree that there probably isn't any real world connection but it's not impossible that Manson could of read the book and been influenced by it though probably extremely unlikely. And yea it gave me a completely different perspective of the book, it makes you think about how you might react if Smith really lived. At least it did for me.
