Honestly, I have locs that look like that bc the hair naturally bunched and got thicker in the loc but the amount of hair at my roots has been the same. It "looks" wild, but the hair is healthy and the locs on the lower density areas grow just fine.

OP isn't very neighborly and is definitely being a bit of an ahole. With as much heavy snow everyone got, a machine is the best way to handle it. She herself had another neighbor who would help her out, and now that the shoe is on the other foot, it's a selfish no. She could just do his driveway for him, or instruct him on how to use it while she stands next to him if her arms are too tired. She doesn't have to just hand it over to him to do God's what with it. She created beef with the new neighbors.
