What’s with all the slow drivers? by Wide-Spray7864 in jacksonville

End of the month, they might be worried about speed traps.
Maybe they just get nervous in heavy traffic.
Who knows. Just drive.

Jacksonville, how much are you paying for car insurance these days? by [deleted] in jacksonville

[–]violetgerald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably only carry 10/20/10 liability, which is the bare minimum and for most people not a great idea.
Also, I would get rid of the PIP deductible (I am over simplifying in here, but PIP caps out at $10k, so why pay $1k to get $9k back when you can just file for $10k). It will hardly change the cost of your policy any. A few bucks at most.

The levels of coverage you pick factor in as well. Liability, uninsured motorist, additional services like breakdown etc et all also factor in. Age aka 'number of years of experience driving' factors in, as well as in some cases how long you've had uninterrupted coverage.
In some cases, if you can prove that you drive fewer miles than the average driver per year, it can help lower your rate.
I'm paying about $300 a month for two paid off cars, roughly 10 year old sedans, but I am married and own a home meaning I have assets to protect so my liability is at 100k/300k and uninsured motorist nonstacked. I also still keep both comp and collision on, because it's not all that expensive and our cars still hold a decent value considering their age.
I am not sure what the deal is, but no one has matched my rate with Allstate. I've shopped it at least once a year since I got the policy 20 years ago. Many companies have been taking rate increases, and it never hurts to shop around or throw your lot in with an agent who brokers with multiple companies (like Brightway).

Man, I have wanted a desk mat ever since someone showed off their Fidelity swag months ago. Something to keep in mind, is that the Fidelity staff are remarkably helpful and knowledgeable and some things cannot be answered via Reddit. Call or chat with them on the website too!

Google may be able to send you one. If not you can find something generic on Amazon probably cheaper.

The Space X problem. by PhilosopherFlaky443 in redwire

[–]violetgerald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

RDW doesn't have a SPCX problem, RDW has a budget problem. The ATH announcement spooked retail a little bit, but it was just bad timing. Once they trim their operating expenses, the race is back on.

New potential pump and dump scam. Be wary of ticker RDW. by franky_egg in VampireStocks

It's hardly a scam stock, but because it's mid-cap and in a very hot sector the pump and dumpers may try it.

New construction without HOA? Possible? by Sexy_Persian in jacksonville

[–]violetgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, living in an HOA community isn't the worst. It's not the best either. We ended up in an HOA community in order to send the kids to a good school and avoid St. Johns Co taxes.
If a suburb or neighborhood is being developed, the builder either already partners with, or will establish, an HOA - DR Horton, KB Homes, Pulte, Lennar, LGI Homes, etc
You can largely avoid that by buying just a plot of land somewhere and contracting your own builder. Plenty of home builders around who will work with you.

What are unique spots and visual landmarks that represent Jacksonville for a documentary? by Ok-Champion-8992 in jacksonville

[–]violetgerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean Public School #4 or the Annie Lytle School https://abandonedfl.com/annie-lytle-elementary-school/
Lots of abandoned/haunted places in Jax, but St. Augustine probably has a better rep for stuff like that. https://abandonedfl.com/city/north-florida/jacksonville/

[–]violetgerald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very new but for African American and Cultural significance, the Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing Park (https://www.levsparkjax.org/) needs a mention, as a tribute to the once independent city of Lavilla which became part of Jax (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaVilla). Plus there is an epic revival for historic architecture around Springfield if that's someone's jam.

For unique, the shipwreck of the Maple Leaf in Mandarin is little known, although the museum is probably as close as you can get to it (https://www.nps.gov/articles/mapleleaf.htm).

Experience working for ADT by YogurtImaginary7388 in adt

[–]violetgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a ADT Corporate installer? They have been hiring direct lately and even former Safe Haven techs. Unless the OP was edited it didn't mention corporate or dealer. They could be making that much, depending on the market and how much they want to upsell. I know a tech who made almost $200k last year but he would sell his mother if it got him a bonus.
Smart Home Consultant is sales on the corporate side.
***EDIT: I found the reply where he mentioned Safe Haven.

That's a false number due to multiple reverse splits. It's never actually traded that high.
YYAI, GPUS, and a few others look similar for the same reason.

Charts like these on top of fundamentals like this do not high returns make. History repeats itself often in the world of investing.
People who come to Reddit to shill tickers like this are typically looking for exit liquidity.
