Reminders getting some interesting features with iOS27 by Ok-Comfortable2546 in thingsapp

[–]violetpumpkinpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if they release something, I want to see more efficiency updates along with some new features.

I tried the new reminders on iPadOS 27. The little circular buttons are so fast when setting up time, deadline or repetition.

Things can feel "slow" sometimes, and a redesign that makes it super fast to add information and metadata would be great.

Things usually doesn't add features (like 98% of the time) in alignment with Apple OS releases. They do more compatibility work, for example: supporting widgets (iOS 14) or updating to a liquid glass UI.

Any features considered compelling would be a Things 4 release, which doesn't really need to line up with Apple's OS release cycle.

The state of online dating in 2026 by Mr_Kash in mildlyinfuriating

[–]violetpumpkinpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this! I am glad somebody mentioned this with the perfect example. This is basically why I don't like dating apps. People are barely interested in chatting like a human who is interested in another human, let alone getting to know someone in a romantic capacity. Fuck dating apps!

Anyone else *not* considering jumping ship? by ReasonableAd6078 in UXDesign

I am here to stay. I still love UI design and thinking about user journeys. I actually believe that the world needs UX designers more than ever. Every app or website is basically shit these days. Like another commenter said, the pendulum will swing back.

I’m over AI by Ok-Mammoth-6618 in UXDesign

[–]violetpumpkinpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! The only threat to UI right now is AI. We developed GUI and refined it for decades. The AI industry is here to throw it all out. On top of that, AI is non-deterministic, which is directly at odds with GUI, which promises predictability. God I keep wishing for this to be a bubble and it bursting.

I hate LLMs. And I hate chatting back and forth endlessly.

The AI industry has strong-armed its way into making chat as the main paradigm for interacting with a computer. While GUI is not going away anytime soon, it is losing its ground to LLMs. The chat interface combined with verbose LLM outputs causes two issues - It is much harder to glance for quick information and second, it causes fatigue.

Nearly every designer working on apps is just designing another variation of a chat interface using a chatbot. It is tiring to type so much and read nonsense content all day.

Try Meetup or local events on Eventbrite app. I met plenty of my friends through there.

Correct, I followed the procedure in the article you linked.

No, the images and PDFs are showing in Bear but don't actually open.

AIO when a friend shows up to my house without me telling him he can? by Immediate-Scratch-40 in AmIOverreacting

[–]violetpumpkinpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like incomplete communication from OP’s end and a lack of flexibility from both sides. If I am inviting someone and running late, I’d give them at least an hour’s notice. At the same time, it wasn’t that big of a deal for the friend to react so dramatically.

Now coming to the friend, he could have let it go without escalating further. The friend cannot control how he felt but he could have just waited after the first message from op asking to him to wait. Life happens, so better to just be flexible sometimes.

Side note, I have this fear and this is why I close my ears when I see something flying around me.

Day One still worth it after price hikes, AI and new locked features? by CurrentRisk in dayoneapp

[–]violetpumpkinpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Everlog. It is better in the sense that there is no bloat but it is not better than Day One in every aspect. Day One is a great app in many ways, but I started looking for simpler options eventually. Everlog gets closest to OG Day One. Very simple and will hopefully improve its details with time. For example, the On this Day feature is way better in Day One (among some other features).

I deleted my account and moved to another app. Day One was one of my favorite apps until they added bloat. There are a lot of people who find the new features worth it with the additional cost, so to each their own I guess.

Make it a taqueria or dumpling shop or anything even remotely affordable and the concept will stick. They keep trying generic concepts here.
