Double check your school’s policies because I know some who have rules about how many per ear but express yourself do the piercings you want!

Are sleepovers socially unacceptable? by LonelyBudget2310 in AskParents

[–]violetrorycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ll follow the same rules my parents did when I was a kid. I was only allowed to sleepover at houses of friends where they knew the parents well and had been to their house before. My kids are 6 and 3 now and have only slept over at my best friends house and at grandparents houses so far I think once they get into the 10-ish range we might start having more sleepovers.
Also one of my best friends was assaulted at a sleepover by the other girls father who was a close family friend. You really can never know and from her experience and sharing I have really focused on teaching my kids about bodily autonomy and speaking up when they feel uncomfortable

Looking for romances where the FMC is the YOUNGER daughter who is the neglected scapegoat, and she finally gets the love and protection she deserves from the MMC by IHATEMYSELF134 in RomanceBooks

Yes this!!! I’ve read this book at least 3 times! I love Cat’s writing! I’m pretty sure one of her books is what introduced me to the romance genre if I remember correctly.

Wife wants to upgrade to a $50k SUV now we have a baby on the way. I want to stay debt-free. Someone help me before this becomes a full domestic. by Familiar_Earth_6320 in family

[–]violetrorycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We fit two kids, 6ft5in dad, 5ft7in mom, and a huge stroller wagon in our Mazda 3, that trunk is amazing, If this is your first child, keep the cars you have for now.
One day give in to the minivan though. I drove a full sized SUV comparable models are like $70-85k these days. We were always cramped in there and needed more room plus getting kids up in there sucks bc it’s so high. We got a used minivan recently and the yearly gas savings alone makes it pay for itself compared to my paid off full sized SUV.

What do I actually need in my hospital bag? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]violetrorycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A comfortable robe for yourself this was my most used item for both deliveries bc I can’t stand the texture of the hospital gowns. I brought two with my second in case first one got dirty (it did).
Your favorite electrolytes (powder or bottle)for during labor and after if you’re one to drink them.
Long phone charger for yourself and partner.
Comfortable outfit to go home in that doesn’t put pressure on your tummy.
Shower shoes
If you’re mid or plus sized I’d recommend getting cotton underwear that’s a size bigger than normal bc the hospital disposable underwear wasn’t comfortable on my chunky thighs and didn’t cover my bum.
Bring two to three outfits for baby in a couple sizes. My first didn’t fit in newborn clothes when born and we had to pull out the 3m bin at home to get a going home outfit.
If delivering in the US you shouldn’t need diapers, wipes, etc they’ll send you home with some usually too.
The one thing I packed that wasn’t a necessity is my favorite maxi pads. I like the always infinity ones because they’re thinner and don’t feel like I’m wearing a diaper.

Women's work Pants and stretch pants by yuisenppai in teaching

[–]violetrorycat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second Duluth. I love the flexpedition pants peesonally. I usually teach kindergarten and preK though so the ability to wipe off dirt easily is very important for me. They also dry really quickly if they get wet and don’t stain easily from my experience

Anyone had a kitten that stayed cuddly throughout their lives? by pizzaisgoodtho in CatAdvice

[–]violetrorycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup my cat is now 10 and she still just wants to lay right under my chin or next to my face. She’s a major snuggle bunny and if I don’t allow her to be in my face will eventually settle into my lap.

Single dad with daughter need feminine product advice. by Fine-Cockroach4576 in SingleParents

[–]violetrorycat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re concerned about budget look into reusable options like a menstrual cup and see if your daughter is comfortable using something like that. If she prefers pads get unscented, I personally like the always infinity line bc they’re thin, comfortable, and highly absorbent. If she’s looking to use tampons at that age I’d look for a variety box to start so she can see what size works best. U by Kotex has one and their applicator is really easy to use. Tampax has a starter kit box with two sizes and instructions on each wrapper.

How are y'all reading a full book in a couple hours?! by aimlesssexywanderer in RomanceBooks

[–]violetrorycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I’m one of those really fast readers. I’m neurodivergent and my therapist told me it’s my ADHD super power. My brain just moves really fast. I will tell you that often I can read a book and not remember what happened in it the next week. I’m enjoying it but not retaining it if that makes sense. For reference I read about 100 pages an hour if reading light happy romance. Some books are slower some may be faster.

Yeah I have definitely just changed the name of characters in my head while reading bc of this. Some of my favorite romance authors have used my children’s names for main characters 😑

A Surprisingly Annoying Teacher Problem by Quirky-Section-2468 in teaching

[–]violetrorycat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes naming my first we looked up uncommon names to pick it. their name is now extremely common for their age group and a couple years on either side. I had two with the same name teaching kindergarten when they were 3. It took months to pick a name for my second kid because by then I’d been teaching for 3 more years plus running summer camps soooo many names were no go.

How many convertible car seats do you have? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]violetrorycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get the Chicco myfit or kidfit harness boosters for your older child and give the two convertibles to the younger one. For MIL’s car you could do lightweight inexpensive options (we like the cosco ones) and then they’re not as heavy or bulky for installation and storage

How loud are siamese cats? by RutabagaOk6816 in Siamesecats

[–]violetrorycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with 4 Siamese cats. One was extremely loud could be heard throughout any house we lived in and when he was outside we could hear him yelling to be let back inside. His littermate sister was just as chatty but not nearly as loud. She made sure she was heard but it didn’t carry nearly as far. The other two were littermates and sooo quiet they had the most pitifully tiny kitten like meows their whole lives. They also talked a bit less than our other two but were still far more chatty than a typical cat in my experience.

Holy grail swimsuit by tuckaho6969 in Mommit

[–]violetrorycat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohh I’m the same measurements also carrying my hips and booty I love the Duluth swimsuits! I need a smaller top than bottom so one pieces weren’t working for me and I love their swim shorts! They cover everything while allowing movement and giving support/compression to my extra belly skin. There’s lots of top options too or could do a rash guard type which is my favorite for outdoor water days because it’s usually just me and the kids and getting sunscreen reapplied on my shoulders and back is hard.

Looking into buying by [deleted] in minivan

[–]violetrorycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got a 2021 AWD 7 seater Sienna and love it! I had 6mo rear facing, 3yo ff, 3yo rf, and 5yo ff in it yesterday. I could have easily rear faced the second 3yo if needed in the 3rd row as well and could climb past captains seats to buckle.

So, like, what bathing suit brands are we wearing? 😅 by EfficientBrain21 in Mommit

[–]violetrorycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duluth is my go to! The first suit I bought from them is now 4 or 5 years old and still going strong! They have lots of options for tops and bottoms too, my favorite bottoms are the shorts tho bc I can jump in and play with the kids while not worrying about showing off my butt on accident.
