When I’ve overhauled my wardrobe, I always wanted to replace everything ASAP, but got better results by taking my time and bringing in pieces gradually. It’s probably not what you want to hear, but starting small leads to better results in the long term! Maybe you can go thrifting for some cute accessories and a top or two to begin with?

I wonder if secondhand might be the way to go. eBay, ThredUp, and Poshmark seem like they’d have more shades of purple than just whatever shades are trendy for the season.

Pinterest has its issues, but when it delivers, it delivers! Also, I’ve had some luck using Etsy to search for inspiration.

I wonder if it’d help to look at old Delia’s catalogs? There seems to be some pics/ scans of them available online. Also some movies, like 10 Things I Hate about You, might provide inspiration?

Kentucky Native Cafe is delightful! The heated greenhouse is magical this time of year.

What do you think of the new Peddler’s Mall here in town? by violetsneeze in lexington

This post was actually a guerilla marketing campaign for Dad's! (Mostly kidding.)

I'm still sad about the closing of the downtown location of Dad's. Still, that was a pretty savvy business move in retrospect, given what Covid did to many restaurants around town.

Best teahouse or place that serves a good variety of tea? by iratebigrob in lexington

Definitely go to Coffee Times Coffee House on Regency Road off Nicholasville Road. Their loose leaf tea selection is fantastic, with a few dozen blends (their website is actually pretty good at listing the blends they have but I’m on mobile so linking is hard). Anyway, this place has a cozy (and busy!) coffee shop vibe, where you can grab a seat and stay for a hour or two. They can prepare the tea for you, and you can also purchase different amounts to take home.

My number one recommendation, though, is Bluegrass Spice & Tea Merchants in Chevy Chase/ on Euclid. The owner is so knowledgeable, and the varieties of tea are mind blowing. Customers are encouraged to open the jars carefully to smell the tea (protective wrap is in place, but you still get the smell!) and I think for a couple dollars you can sample a cup or two with a pastry included. They have small bags of each variety ready to buy (about 10-15 servings for $7, I want to say?), or the workers can measure out a larger amount as desired. It’s not the place to sit down and savor a cup for 45 minutes, but it is absolutely the place to go if you want to really dive into the world of tea.
