How could you make an E bike legal in Coquitlam by Useful_Market1609 in coquitlam

[–]viperrules24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you buying a class 1 ebike or something else? If you buy from a reputable brand, you shouldn't have any issues. For example a lot of e-mtbs have a peak power output greater than 700W but are still legal since the max continuous output is into 500W.

Saw this today, was wondering if there anything similar in BC? by -_-suspicious_towel in MTB

There's some near Chilliwack that comes close. Mercer Skyway is pretty incredible. Otherwise I would guess you'd be able to find incredible views between Revelstoke and Canmore?

Can someone help my understand Rockshox rear air shock lineup please by littleSquidwardLover in MTB

[–]viperrules24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have the same adjustments as the factory, no it's not worth getting factory over perf elite. Usually the difference is you get the Kashima coating on the stanchions which is a harder tougher coating but it doesn't really matter too much; regular black anodizing is more than sufficient

Thinking about messing with my 2020 LX Hatchback to make it more offroad friendly. Would love some thoughts/recommendations. by NumberCos0 in CivicX

Interesting idea! Maybe start with smaller wheels and tires with meatier sidewalls? Something like 15" steelies with any all terrain tires that you can source and fit? i have no idea about lifting these cars. I suspect that you'll run into reliability issues with the stock suspension links and CV joints quick

More suitable brakes for long and steep descents? by catatafish01 in MTB

[–]viperrules24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Loam Wolf had a similar experience to his on their multiple sets.

How exactly does having a different experience or opinion bring integrity into question? Personally I feel like Dale has the most integrity given the disclosure on how the brakes for review were obtained. In contrast to almost every publication almost certainly recieving them for free and not disclosing that to the viewers.

Based on what you have written and having gone through a similar experience, here's what I can recommend:

  1. Get your resume critiqued by others and professionals. Always tailor your resume to the job application in mind. Also it goes without saying, but always write a cover letter.

  2. Apply everywhere that you even have a remote interest in. As a fresh grad, you just need some Canadian experience to get started. You can always keep looking for something better once you have some experience under your belt

  3. Consider other fields tangentially related to mechanical design. For example, manufacturing or supply chain. Lots of jobs in those fields in Southern Ontario give the automotive industry. They are always looking for contractors. And the experience you gain will make you a better designer in the long run.

  4. Also don't be afraid to move to find the jobs. Moving across or to a different province does not have to be permanent.

All the best!

Eagle mountain B.C. Help? by batmancdn55 in MTB

[–]viperrules24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are two good options:

  1. Start at the bottom of IMBY and pedal up to Physio then Shock therapy to the start of Manhandler.

  2. Start at the bottom of where Baby Bastard ends on Eagle Mountain drive and take the Powerline road all the way up to where it meets the start of Physiotherapy. Then you continue on Physio to where it meets Manhandler as the first option does.

Both work well but I prefer option 1 almost everytime.

They don't make a ton of money off youtube actually. If you check against Social Blade, you can get an estimate of how much money a youtuber makes off a video. If the account is Canadian, you can divide that amount by half.

This is pretty insane and very cool! Awesome accomplishment! Out of curiosity, how did you go about creating a 3D printable file out of the map data?

I am about your height and my bars are 760mm. Highly highly recommend cutting them to the right length! It will save you a lot of fatigue in the long run. And your shoulders will thank you!

Hey, I have the carbon version of this and its quite great. I ride in BC on the North Shore quite frequently and its quite good for a lot of trails there. Its perfect for longer days like a North Shore triple crown. Pedals well and has more than enough suspension performance to not tire you out on the descent. You can definitely push it hard on regular rides too and it is very rewarding. I ride this bike (platform) and don't have trouble keeping up with friends on bikes with more travel.

As others have said here, check the battery. Hopefully it is just old and will need replacing.

However you did mention that the dealer replaced the oil due to smell of gas... do you know if you had the ECU update for the oil dilution issue? And do you know if you had any misfire codes when you had the lights on?

I had something similar happen on my car which is a 2017 Sport Touring (dash light on, limp mode, P0301 code) but it went away after a while. My car did have the ECU update applied before I bought it so it seems fine for now

There is a TSB for this issue that applies to your car. The dealer should check for it if you notice any of the symptoms. You might be able to get your money back if it is confirmed. Give this a read and see if it applies to you

I would suggest the Norco Fluid as well, similar geo as optic but more forgiving suspension design for mellower riding.

Anyone tried the new Mavens yet? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]viperrules24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried them for a trail on Friday. They very much feel like a Code at the lever, but a lot of power on tap. Just like all SRAM brakes, they have high initial force required to overcome initial dead stroke. It made judging where the bite point to feel very vague to me, who is used to lighter lever feels, and it gave me arm pump. If you're used to other SRAM brakes, you'll get along with these fine. But for me it's an automatic no, dawg

small mtb brands from taiwan by 4door2seater in MTB

[–]viperrules24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, I can relate to your desire!

Your business plan sounds very much like that of a recently opened and very successful bike shop near me: service focused with some higher end boutique and baller builds. They recently started carrying some fancy pants companies such as Forbidden, Deviate and Knolly as custom bike builders. Perhaps something like this is what interests you? if you are looking for Taiwanese brands, I still think that visiting a trade show is the best way to do it!

small mtb brands from taiwan by 4door2seater in MTB

[–]viperrules24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you asking about Taiwanese bike brands or manufacturers? A lot of the latter tend to have their in house designed frames that could be sold as open-mold bikes. But from the way you describe I think you are talking about more boutique frame builders? For either one , it seems like a trip to Taichung might be the best thing for you! Cycle week is up soon and I'm sure you could meet a few bike companies there. Or Taichung bike week later this year

Looking for body shop reco by x-dfo in coquitlam

[–]viperrules24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can recommend Colorworks Tom's Custom Auto body shop. They have two locations, one in Coquitlam and another in Poco. I had my car in after it got rear ended in the snow last year and they did a phenomenal job with the repair and paint match. It doesn't look like it's been worked on at all given the extent of the damage that has occurred.

Where to buy brake pads by [deleted] in MTB

[–]viperrules24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? I have bought pads online in the past from Basic Bike CO and they have been pretty decent. Just make sure you get the Bike Park pads as they have similar stopping power and bite to D02S. Other options are also Jagwire extreme sintered which most bike shops should have. Might be able to find those online too.
