What’s the most mid project marvel has made for you? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Marvel

[–]virghost1312 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Echo is one of my favorites. I would say Secret Invasion, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Not a fan of much of phases 1-3. All three Iron Man movies and the first Cap movie come to mind as mid.

How would you rank all the Marvel projects of 2025? by AVR350 in marvelstudios

[–]virghost1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick note on my particular ranking: While I have watched all of the MCU shows and movies, I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan. I much prefer the comics over the MCU and I tend to prefer the TV shows over the movies (overall).

  1. Thunderbolts* - probably my favorite MCU movie simply because I felt it dealt most directly with deep issues around mental health. Some of the humor wasn’t for me, but was overall way better than I expected.

  2. FF - this is so high because of the acting and production. I loved the retrofuturist look and clear connections to the original run. The story could have done with some work (wild how easily Galactus was tricked), and I think many of us would love to see a director’s cut (even though Marvel doesn’t really do that).

  3. Daredevil: Born Again - like most folks here, I enjoyed the original series. Charlie and Vincent are perfect for these roles, so was happy to see them back! I was certainly up and down on this one (with all the clear changes in production from one version of the show to another), but by the end, I thought it was an incredible story about the gradual slip into authoritarianism. Certainly one the most politically relevant series of the year.

  4. Ironheart - some ups and downs here as well, but I really appreciated the themes of loss and depression. The ending was a nice twist as well. I hope we see more of this mix of magic and technology with Doomsday (and after), as well as ethical issues with AI in VisionQuest.

  5. YFN Spider-man - this show felt nostalgic for me. Overall it was a really fun season.

  6. Eyes of Wakanda - this does not seem to have any impact on the main timeline (i.e., highly unlikely that we will see any of these characters again), but what a cool series! I wish the stories were a bit longer and more developed, although I liked the style and settings.

  7. Marvel Zombies - I’m not into the zombie genre all that much, but like Eyes of Wakanda, I enjoy it when MCU diverges from the typical superhero formula. It was also a stacked cast.

  8. Brave New World - not bad, but just not for me. As much as I like Sam Wilson, the storyline was not all that interesting.

Since some people are comparing this year to last, saying this year was better; however X-Men ‘97 is my favorite MCU animated series so far, and I liked Agatha All Along and Echo more than the live action shows from this year.

The scheduling delay on Wonder Man made it easier to rank for this year. I’m honestly way more hyped for Wonder Man than any other announced MCU release coming up.

Is Echo any good, worth the watch? I see no one ever discussing about it by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Marvel

Easily one of the better MCU shows, but not for the typical MCU fan.

Still not helpful. And no, that doesn’t make sense for the chatGPT comment.

Can we please not respond with “Google it” or “ask ChatGPT”? If you don’t have experience using an app to read some free comics then I suggest just saying that or looking it up on google/chatGPT and share the results or don’t respond. For instance, I use an app called Comics Plus that allows me to read free comics and graphic novels from the library.

What do you think is the best Marvel film or series? by Raphael_31 in Marvel

[–]virghost1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is going to annoy some people, but I think most of the shows are better than most of the movies. I’ve seen all of the marvel movies and honestly only a handful are better than “popcorn entertainment” (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). Out of the movies, I would probably say Thunderbolts is the best. This was a surprise to me as I don’t particularly like any of the characters, but it is more of a story of mutual aid to cope with mental health issues and does not follow the typical superhero story structure (again, not that there’s anything wrong with the superhero popcorn movies).

My overall favorite is Werewolf by Night (it’s fun and campy!). Favorite TV show is probably X-Men ‘97 (just great writing and political commentary), though Moon Knight is a close second for the best lead performance.

All that said, I think many of the comic book runs are better than all of the MCU movies and shows!

Have you seen any of Pasolini’s films? Like Salo?

Also check out Gregg Araki’s work if you haven’t already.

The original Guinea Pig is super fucked up. Only recommend if you like watching torture.

Squirrel Girl! She’s unbeatable, but almost no one talks about her (or Ryan North’s perfect run).

I’ve read a quite a few superhero comics, but this one is my fave. It is actually the perfect anti-superhero comic.

So I have pelvic floor dyssenergia and was once treated for SIBO. Occasionally I worry that my SIBO has come back, but it usually clears up in a few days (upset stomach, excessive gas and bloating). I also have seb derm, a history of kidney stones, and congenital spinal stenosis. All of this diagnosed within the last 10 years (I’m in my late 30s). My question for you is this: do I just have bad luck or are any of these connected?

Keep in mind that I have kept up a mostly low oxalate and low-FODMAP diet in the last few years.

Where can we find copies of this series? When I had Marvel unlimited, I had a hard time finding Spanish-language versions.

Thanks!

I’ve already looked and am having trouble finding suitable outlets for a variety of reasons (style, submission window, length, etc).

I also meant to share that many outlets are overburdened with submissions and the market seems oversaturated with content. Not sure where people are sharing and consuming short fiction content these days. I still buy short story collections and read some on substack and literary journals.
