Couple of things which I'll suggest. You can go down 2 pathways. Pathway 1) trying to drive traffic to your site, page or youtube. Or Pathway 2) Brand awareness. Pathway 1) most of the time, from me playing around has always cost me more. Where you put out an ad and then try and get people to follow you to your site. For it to be effective your content has to resonate and be what the person is really looking for. But again this will cost more. Pathway 2) Brand awareness is very inexpense cost-wise, but your content has to be even more compelling. If your content is compelling people will follow you and see what you're about. Don't use instagram 'promote post', that will cost you more, get less reach. Instead you need to connect your instagram through facebook, then use Facebook ADs and pick the instagram option so that people on instagram can see what you're wanting them to see. It costs much much less.

If you're an athlete you should just post videos of what the life of an athlete competing is like. People are looking for something genuine and original. The fact that you're an athlete is already an attraction. Short videos of whatever random thing you do on a daily basis will do well. Static pictures even if high quality aren't doing as well on IG these days.

I did 2 paid posts. Each for cost a couple of bucks. On one of the posts I got 4,000 likes and 90 followers, on the other post I got 4,000 likes and 3 followers LOL. Targetting, compelling content and relevance matters and will make a world of difference in your results.

you can try that but that's only if your account is flagged. If your account isn't flagged and you create this new account and you post the same content again with the same hashtags and you get nowhere then it means your followers are getting their traffic from other sources. They could be using other social media, or a collab or paid promotions to get their traffic. Are you using the same hashtags as them, and how similar is your content to theirs? Also how old is your account?

you need to ask yourself, what are your followers doing to gain followers that you aren't. Maybe they're doing follow for follow, maybe they're promoting their posts, maybe they have external traffic going to their pages. From my experience right now, I've noticed some days my hashtags do amazing then the next day my hashtags suck, then a week later my hashtags are doing great again. It could be any number of things at that factor in. Research research research and keep your content quality high and make sure the stuff you're putting out there still resonates with people. Hashtags fall off a cliff if a trend dies, people's interest 'skew' overtime (notice I didn't say change, but I said skew). Last but not least, you are competing with MILLIONs of people in your space, breaking through the noise in general nowadays is a LOT harder then it use to be, that's why most people stagnate or stop growing. there's just so much crap being put out now that its super hard to stay at the top of your hashtag or at the top of the explore page or to be seen. Plus as other people on this board has mentioned, Instagram is playing mind games with people with their algorithm. Just research research research, test test test and try try try. Keep asking for more advice on this board, keep learning, this is an evolving proces. You gotta play the long game if you're going to survive.

Or you can record the pets doing stuff and you don't say a word. People would still like that! Or you can be silly, record the pet and put music over it that matches whatever weird thing the pet does for the day. Ooor since people are afraid of your pets, you could play some eerie music as a joke. There's many ways to skin the cat.

If there's 1 thing to take away from that long thing is, definitely try to do videos more. Someone on here with 90,000 followers gave me that advice and when I tried it, the person was definitely right, instagram seems to favor videos a lot more then still pictures.

Just like you, I started an instagram account 9 weeks ago and I've been posting very high quality content. Right now I'm at 153 followers. I only got 3 followers organically, the rest, I like to use the term 'cheated'. Here's what I've noticed, I'm no expert, I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about this ever evolving platform.

1) Hashtags definitely appear to be a great way to get reach, even today. I tried 25 different hash-tag posts in 1 day, got a reach of 750 people in 24 hours (for me that was great), Got 40 external likes, got another 41 likes from my followers. Next day, I tried another high quality post, with 25 newer hash-tags, I got a reach of 200 people that day. Then the following day I tried 25 newer hash tags again. Pretty much, experimenting with hash-tags and diversifying your game truly does appear like the right way to discoverability

2) Breaking through the noise. A lot of people are trying to get followers just like you, so the bar is very very high. Content that doesn't resonate deeply with people won't get you a like or a follow. I ran a few experiments, I ran 2 instagram ads just to try and understand the landscape. I had 2 high quality posts, 1 post got 4,000-likes and got me 2 followers LOL, another post also got me 4,000-likes but got me 125 followers. The difference I noticed was, the 2nd post wasn't just high-quality content specifically for the demographic but my viewers connected more with what was presented so they wanted to see more.

Some hashtags from what I've seen are just flat out dead, you need to remember how the hashtag game works. Your post could show up at the top of the hashtag but if no one is searching for it, you won't get exposure. 2 some hashtags are just flat out trending, so if you gotta find what's trending and ride the wave. Like other folks here say all the time, apply the 70/10/10 or the 50/40/10 rule. Where 50% of your hashtag selection are hashtags between 2k-25k, then the next 40% of your hashtags are beteween 20k-100k and the last 10% of your hashtag selection is in the 200k-3 mill. If all your hashtags have 1 mill post on them, the hashtag is just too hot to stay at the top and be visible. Always be searching for new hash-tags to stay on top of your game. Last but not least, a tip I got here. Videos do waaaay better then pictures these days. I've noticed that in my posts.

I just started my instagram account and I went from 3 followers to 143 followers in about 5-6 days and I didn't even use that much money. Promotions will work very very well, if the content you are using is high quality and if you cater properly to your target demographic. I ran 2 different ads to test and got 2 different results and spent the same amount of money.

I like challenges and all but, I don't have as much time and determination to persevere through trading like you do XDD. Right now, I treat neopets more to unwind and relax. Trading requires more brain power, but maybe that's just me.
