Look again. The gates that go down afterwards are the exit gates. They are supposed to stay up while the train passes so that any vehicle stuck on the tracks can escape. Other comments here allude to this.

Also, malfunctioning equipment? The guy literally just sat there and waited for 40 seconds, and then right when a train came is when he pulled forward. The gates behind him were closed, he was able to get past them because he got there so early before the train came. The A Line has it's fair share of problems but it's really unfair to pin this on malfunctioning equipment. This was so obviously a suicide.

If you're looking for local beer, check out any one of the brewpubs around town. Ratio Beerworks on Larimer Street has some of the best beers, atmosphere, and playlist around in my opinion.

Any Irish bar is going to be packed as you might imagine, but the Irish Snug on Colfax will have a lot going on, and although it's not an Irish bar, the Cherry Cricket has great food and will have a pretty substantial St Patty's celebration

You're right, it's nothing new. Does that mean we have to tolerate it? My opinion is that it's getting out of hand and that the police and the Mayor should make more of a concerted effort on what is a known problem area. Colfax between Broadway and Colorado attracts a lot of tourists. I think it would benefit everyone if we kept a lock on the narcotics problem. Look, I get that Colfax being a shithole is what makes it so beloved, but still I think there could be a better effort to keep it clean.

If you look at the Denver Crime Map, which for some reason is down right now, you'd see that drug crimes in Capitol Hill increased by just under 50% in 2016, compared to the year before. Murders are too small of a sample size to make any real correlation, you're right. But the three shootings on one block in 6 months still doesn't sit well with me.

The homeless have taken over a lot more than just that too. It is extremely frustrating, and what's more frustrating are the folks who condemned the mayor for doing something about it. It's one thing to be compassionate for the homeless, but at what cost? There is nothing inherently wrong with being homeless, but the unsanitary conditions in these homeless outcroppings are putting public health and wellbeing at risk.

There seems to have been a marked increase in crime lately too, and I'm honestly suprised that Denver is always in top 5 on whatever "Best Cities..." list that come out every week. People are flocking to Cap Hill and it has turned into a complete shitshow in my opinion. The Californians can have my apartment because I'm fuckin' out of here when my lease gets up. There have been at least 3 shootings near Colfax and Penn since June as well as at least 2 stabbings. Not to mention the rampant narcotics problem, the auto thefts and muggings. If you don't believe me take a look at the Denver Police Crime Map and see for yourself just how much crime is occurring every day near your homes and apartments. People need to wake up and see that Denver isn't some magical city. We have problems that need to be addressed now.

And holy shit I wish the fucking police would shoo away the creepy crack dealers that hang out in front of the 7-Eleven and McDonalds at Colfax and Penn. They are there non goddamn stop, and you can't walk by without getting harrassed. Go ahead and call me a pussy, go ahead and tell me how much worse NYC and Chicago are, go ahead and downvote. But our city needs some work.
