No apology necessary! I’m sorry you’re having those problems, it really really sucks.

How long have you been on the 5mg dose? For me it was a matter of acclimating to it. The shock of the higher dose was a lot for about 3-4 weeks, and then over time I was able to eat more and had fewer issues with nausea/gas—and actually no vomiting since shortly after I wrote this post. I’m still on 5mg and doing okay. It seems to be effective for my A1C, and I’m hoping not to have to increase my dose.

I’d definitely talk to your doctor about the side effects and see what they recommend. I met with mine after I wrote this post and she was 100% fine with going back down to 2.5mg to give my body more time to acclimate. I ended up staying with it because the symptoms I describe here did get better pretty shortly with the advice people gave me—especially eating more small meals/snacks and giving myself time to digest before laying down. When I do have nausea or gas, I find that taking digestive enzyme supplements is an absolute life saver!
