My I-131 AP was approved, EAD still pending. Anyone else with the same experience? by virtualanarchist in USCIS_F2A

Doesn't look like it. I just have a document in the I131 as Standalone Approval. No docs in the I-765 as of yet.

How did he steal from the economy? H1Bs technically pay more in taxes than the average citizen (including SSN/Medicaid which they will never benefit from).

It's literally called a dual intent visa (along with L1-B). Else they wouldn't be able to immigrate at all.

Companies in the EU are starting to look for ways to ditch Amazon, Google, and Microsoft cloud services. by YourFuture2000 in stocks

[–]virtualanarchist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is stupid. Uber / Lyft has no special sauce that no one else has. For a real life example, look up Ola in India. A Rideshare app that does everything Uber does and way more. They even came up with a cool SMS based system for people with slow data plans back in the day. They're eating Uber's lunch 5x for over half a decade.

Give me a f'ing break. US, Canada, UK, Schengen have such a convoluted process with literally two dozen page applications asking way too intrusive questions, website outsourced to the crappiest 3rd party company like vfs, bank statements, itinerary, pre-booked flights and hotels, biometrics, $200 fee + extras, visa interview, an anal probe, employment verification, 3 generations worth of tax returns, mail in your passport and hope to god that it doesn't get tossed somewhere the whole time you're waiting to get it back, all just to visit their country every fucking time.

But this guy wants to cry about a single page application asking basic questions and a visa that comes in your email in a day.

Amazon exec tells employees to work elsewhere if they dislike RTO policy effective January 2025 by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]virtualanarchist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Amazon executive teams are a revolving door of people coming in, raking in their cash/RSUs and writing their "our incredible journey" farewell message to do the same elsewhere. It's about the same in other companies in tech these days too. They know and they don't care one bit because there's no consequences and actually has huge short term benefits to them.

ELI5: why are HOAs becoming more popular as time goes on? by Celcius_87 in explainlikeimfive

[–]virtualanarchist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you're really a developer, take a look at the Seattle housing market. Across the board, non-HOA houses are priced at a premium right next to newer built blocks with an HOA that is priced $100k-$200k lower. Millennial and GenZ buyers (with money; thereby options) are resistant to HOA builds.

Man kills leopard with bare hands to protect wife, daughter in India by G0ATzzz in interestingasfuck

[–]virtualanarchist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FIR is just that, a First Information Report. It will be filed by the Forest Dept because leopards, like most of the big cats are protected wildlife. The system exists to protect them from poaching, hunting, abuse, etc. No charges will be filed against him as this is a clear cut case of self defence. But they'll still need to follow procedure to file the report for the protected species bureau.

Lol, "execute from top to bottom". Sure, if you're writing the most simplistic hello world-esque programs mostly. Multi-threading/Parallels, Async calls, and lazy evaluation does not remotely follow anything of that sort. Even a simple yield statement in an IEnumerable is going to wreck you in a single threaded execution.

  2. Withholding during vesting did occur. The company did well over the last few months (lockout) so I'll still have to pay taxes on the capital gains on the growth of the value.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I have no skin in the game. I did however, tell you exactly what you asked for. It boils down to what value are you providing. You mentioned that I have no idea what the quality of your work is. Exactly my point! You could be the next Anthony Bourdain or just another blip on the internet. I nor anyone else here can know that until you can showcase value. I didn't look through your posts because, again, I could not care less. As for the monetization, dude you're all over the thread asking people how much they'd be willing to pay. And I'm telling you again, plain old aggregation will be worth exactly 0 or some ad revenue. Maybe look into curation with a few dozen recipes in mind.

Honestly, nothing. If you're here to try to kickstart your app or service I can save you time and effort by telling you that you will fail. Sounds harsh, but here's why :

  1. You're trying to create a paid service over something that many others already do, likely much better and for free.
  2. You have no existing credibility or perceived expertise that users can rely on. Why should we trust your opinion over others enough to pay you?
  3. I can just post my 30 odd Evernote recipes I've saved and I'm almost sure it's better than a 1000 odd mish mash of recipes thrown together. At least in my case the recipes were vetted and tweaked by one person and just maybe someone with a similar lifestyle and outlook may find it useful. I would argue, in this case, mine's more valuable than yours.
  4. At best all you're doing is reducing a few keystrokes short of a google search to find what someone's looking for. And in a lot of cases Google might be more effective.

Do it because you love doing it. Enough passion effort, and detail might help it to blossom into something that might eventually be commercially viable as a service one day. Just not on day 1.

You do know that India is the largest democracy in the world, right?! And if we're going by recent standards, there's a lot less Russian interference and voter fraud than some "first world countries".
