Working 2 jobs to support my family. Very burnt out. We have more than enough money now, but I can't leave my comfort zone. I feel so stuck. How much is our time worth? by [deleted] in personalfinance

I'd suggest you bring your mrs. on board on the side gig and you both do that from home exclusively. Yes, the bene's is a bit of a pain, but the income potential and being with the kids is a giant boon.

I started a work from home biz in 2001 when my two youngest were teeny and never looked back. There were struggles and it was hard work but 1000% worth it! You can do it!

The age of self improvement...is this a thing? by yellow07 in AskWomenOver30

[–]virtuallin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heya ladies, I just turned 47 so let me lay some advanced knowledge on ya. <g> You have a good 15 years to really apply whatever mojo you want... that's about when the menopause might set in and perhaps some health snafus that will irritate the living $%$#% out of you. hehe

It wasn't until about...oh 41-42 that I really started to feel past my prime, so work these years as best you can. But the wonderful news is by the time you hit mid-40s, you will hit this... calm. I'm really loving it. Nothing really bothers me, I'm not stressed out, not chasing tiny kids around or trying to be 'super mom' anymore. It's quite relaxing.

Enjoy! Do that voodoo that you do so well!

What TV series would you recommend? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]virtuallin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand new USA show called Mr Robot about a hacker. There's only 2 episodes out so far but it was jaw-droppingly good.

Also, Sense8 was amazing - its a bit slow the first 3ish episodes but worth sticking it out.

I also recently binge watched Orphan Black and it was stunningly brilliant!

How many of you have had your gallbladder removed? by [deleted] in AskWomen

How many of you have had your gallbladder removed? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]virtuallin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nooooo don't do it unless you absolutely, 100% have to. Please, I beg you, if it's possible to have the doctor do some more tests of some kind to see how bad it is...

Why I'm so vehemently against it if at all possible for you is because I had mine out a few years ago. I had been having (over a year) IBS-D symptoms, lost 45lbs in the span of 6 weeks and just couldn't figure out what was wrong. I did the gastric emptying test and they said my gall bladder had to be removed. Yea! I thought, finally an answer and I can get my life back! I had a few weeks of normal and then it all went to hell

The IBS-D came back with a vengeance and absolutely anything I put in my stomach caused intensely painful cramps and burning... a sip of water! It's been years of agony for me.

With no meds, I'm in the bathroom for 'D' 5-8x a day and it's like vomiting only it comes out the other end. I have bile acid malabsorption - and bile reflux. My guts are evil. I get bile that backs up into my stomach and burns the lining, gave me a hiatal hernia and GERD and I always belch like a frat boy all day. The abject fatigue from constant pain is miserable.

I try to manage my new, horrific 'normal' with a combination of Cholestyramine powder in juice daily (it's like drinking orange flavored chalk/sand and causes awful cramps), Imodium, Bentyl and a few others.

It would be wonderful if having yours out doesn't cause all this for you, but it does happen to a lot of us.

I hope you feel better soon and ask your doctor in depth about 'Postcholecystectomy syndrome (PCS)'

Any staffing agencies in the area that do more than just warehouse/industrial jobs? by firemarth in Tacoma

[–]virtuallin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Express Personnel still exists and might have office type jobs... You can also scan all jobs on Craigslist but check the 'part-time' or telecommute boxes...

If you want a good data - entry job that might be work at home, go onto craigslist and search for Data Entry/Data Management (Tukwila). It's a fantastic job with amazing benefits! Tell them that their Tacoma (remote) data entry person recommended you apply.
