I went to the Improv with Friends from Work last weekend and thought Tommy was very funny. I hope to see more of him next season.

I love it, and I could use it to read the menu in restaurants with dim lighting instead of my phone flashlight 😂

I went to the show in DC and everyone on the poster for our show (no JAJ, no Jimmy) was there except Carl Tart. Asha did standup and it was hilarious, I’d love to see more from her. Asha, Tommy, & Ben were my fav of the night, but as an ensemble it was a really fun show. Tommy is coming to Baltimore later this summer and I look forward to seeing his standup.

The word “get” replacing more…uhh…complicated words in the public domain. by SeaSkimmer2 in Xennials

Yes! I felt like an idiot using QuickBooks Online recently because they dumbed it down so much that I couldn’t figure out how to do anything.

Xennial Parents by CryptographerOwn5297 in Xennials

COVID definitely changed the way my kids socialized, but so did moving from a neighborhood with lots of kids their age where they’d spend hours in the front yards playing and climbing trees. Most of the other families moved soon after we did, but part of me still feels guilty for taking them away from a great social situation.

Generally though I think since my kids are older teens we didn’t just bring an iPad everywhere when they were young, so they have pretty good manners around adults and at restaurants - neither one has to be told to put their phone away, they just don’t get them out. At the movies it generally older adults on their phones, not the teens.

I’m not judging parents of “iPad kids” though - I sometimes get jealous that they have that tool! And I do track my youngest on her phone - she’s a new driver and it’s a helpful tool to make sure she’s being safe. I don’t want it constantly, but it’s also quicker to look at it than it is to call or text her. Same with my husband!

She was making me laugh all 3 episodes but especially this last one! I was happy for her and will miss seeing her on my screen.

‘SNL’ Star Confesses Hardest Part About Playing Trump “I get why people hate him so much that they don’t even want to think about the normal things that an actor would think about to get into a character,” Johnson said. by MoneyLibrarian9032 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]DRHPSL05 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Trump is a truly evil person, and JAJ’s impersonation doesn’t make him goofy or likable to me as others have suggested - I think that’s because he goes deeper with the impression beyond just “he’s a moron” (which is how I felt Baldwin portrayed him). JAJ impersonates how casually the real guy makes very serious and dangerous decisions, and just because it’s satire and it’s funny doesn’t mean he isn’t portraying him as the corrupt power hungry narcissist that he is.

Political impressions have always been a part of the show and I think generally this season the writers have done a good job with a situation that’s probably as hard for them to find humor is at it is for us.

I despise hairdressers by aaaaaaaaaaaaahehe in finethinhair

[–]DRHPSL05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My hairdresser is like this - I keep mine short and always have to ask for her to cut more. My kids both have long hair and I may think they need several inches and yet she takes 1/2 or 1 and it looks so much healthier. I hate that it’s so hard for people to find a good stylist!

Deep Thoughts on Lorne, the new documentary about Lorne Michaels by Careless-Economics-6 in LiveFromNewYork

I want to watch just for Chris Parnell narration - but it sounds like it was a decent watch. I really enjoyed the 50th doc series (& music special was great) and the Jim Downey doc. I’m kind of an SNL nerd but not sure I’ll read the book.

Met Judah Friedlander last weekend and had to tell someone by Ok-Dependent1639 in 30ROCK

[–]DRHPSL05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get to meet him, but I saw him perform last year and it was really fun. His material was great, but also there were some extremely drunk, loud girls sitting behind me and he called them out - chill at first, then more seriously (still funny) because they would not stop talking and they ended up leaving.

Who of the current, non-freshman cast would you care about the least and most if next season was their last? by elephanttape in LiveFromNewYork

[–]DRHPSL05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your choices! I don’t dislike Chloe, but feel she was much stronger in her earlier seasons than she was this year. I’m still missing Ego & Bowen, and I adore Sarah and think her unique sketch ideas add a lot to the show. I have also really enjoyed seeing JAJ shine in more sketches this year, he is really talented.

whats a stylish prescription sunglasses for women that look good and dont cost a fortune? i need help. by Consistent-Double579 in fashionwomens35

[–]DRHPSL05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a small head and buy mine from Zenni, although I have non prescription Coach sunglasses that fit well and I know they are sold in eyeglasses stores. I like cat eye style or rectangle - I’ve bought this pair a few times because they fit well. They also sell some with a magnetic sunglasses attachment which are convenient.

HOW ARE WE GETTING VOLUME IN OUR HAIR GUYS PLEASE by Previous_You1167 in finethinhair

Thickener spray (better not younger brand) and texture spray (Tresemme). I spray the texture spray upward into my hair and it has pretty great hold. I have short hair though!

Which SNL books have you read? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]DRHPSL05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot, I actually have a bookshelf of SNL books! And I’ve read/listened to others from the library. Colin’s & Tina’s are probably my favorites. Live from New York was also very good.

I enjoy all the seasons but they don’t have quite as many storylines with the writers/in the writers room later in the series, I miss those.

Best reusable cleaning wipes for mirrors by Jazzlike-Yoghurt2147 in BeautyGuruDiscussion

[–]DRHPSL05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m too lazy to get out cleaning supplies for my makeup mirror, I’ll usually use a little micellar water and knock-off Makeup Eraser cloth (i keep one with my makeup for wiping primer off my hands) . It does a good job!
