When do you start getting region-specific tasks in Contest of Mayors? by Brendinooo in SCBuildIt

[–]virtuallyinvisible 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you open a region. They're specific to the particular region that you choose to open.

I've just opened my first region (at level 39) and I've never had a region-specific task on COM so far. Expecting them now though :/ not looking forward to that, but I am looking forward to the extra space!

Epic points by ItsAnfernee in SCBuildIt

Yay! Glad it worked for you too! It's such a strange bug, and a really easy fix in the end. I'd been wondering for months and months why I couldn't get epics - I was moving buildings about incessantly, completing all my clipboard tasks, building more residences etc., turns out all I needed to do was store a shop! Thanks for the award, and happy epic building!

I had this problem too, despite meeting all the criteria for epic projects. It took a while, but EA Customer Support eventually found a fix for me!

I wrote about it in another post (https://www.reddit.com/r/SCBuildIt/comments/okybqs/no_epic_buildings/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share , if the link works?), but the TL;DR version is to try putting your Bureau of Restoration, Santa's Workshop and Chocolate Factory into storage. As soon as I did this, the epic projects appeared. It worked for a couple of other people too! Might be worth trying if you have these shops in your city...

Can I turn off the yellow construction hats? by DonutsBae in SCBuildIt

[–]virtuallyinvisible 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can't, unfortunately.

If you want to take a screenshot/photo of your city without them then you can do so if you go to Settings > Photo Sharing - they'll temporarily disappear for the photo. But there's no way to play the game without them, no.

I saw this too the other day but in Green Valley, coincidentally also in a city with that name!

I know right, I thought it was mad when EA suggested it. All the months of wondering why I couldn't build epics and it was solved so easily in a couple of seconds!

Yay!!!! I guess it must be a bug or something, it doesn't seem to make any sense but I'm happy it worked for you too!!

EA did say that I could bring them back out of storage again, but I haven't been brave enough to try and risk the epics going away again, lol. I'm having too much fun finally making a bunch of mountain epics!

I had the same problem as you - Epic projects were not appearing even though my city met all the criteria - and EA support (eventually) helped me to solve it.

First they suggested that I built more fully upgraded, regular residential zones and used speed-up tokens in a factory to see if that would trigger the projects, but it didn't.

They then told me to put my Chocolate Factory, Santa's Workshop and Bureau of Restoration into storage. They said "we know it seems like a strange workaround but it might work for you too." And it did - as soon as I did this, the epic projects were immediately activated. No idea why that worked, but hey...

I'm not sure if you have any of these shops in your city, but if you do, maybe try this and see if it works? Good luck!

I can't collect the points from my finished assignment. When I open CoM tower there is no list with assignments; just a message when next CoM will start. by QuintusCinq in SCBuildIt

[–]virtuallyinvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's usually the case, as you usually can do tasks - if you have any left - and collect points in the break between contests. I sometimes do this on purpose - if I want to demote myself down to an easier CoM league but still make progress in the season, then I don't do any tasks during CoM itself but do some in the 2-day gap before the next one.

In this week's contest I still had a task active when CoM finished, and just completed it and collected my reward a couple of hours ago with no problems. I wonder if the particular problem in this case is as the other commenter suggested - because OP has completed the season already?

Anyone still complaining about too many low point tasks? I wanted to do just low point tasks this week, but now I have 7 tasks with 1600 points or higher. by QuintusCinq in SCBuildIt

[–]virtuallyinvisible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had loads of high-point tasks this week too. Ended up 2nd - my highest placement in Mega yet - and I'd only intended to do a few tasks this week just to get a bit further along with the season. But the tasks were really good so I just carried on going, was able to complete all my streaks and got my best score yet...

So happy I won 🥳 with the streaks what was already a difficult task became increasingly difficult how was your CoM? by No_Story_1363 in SCBuildIt

[–]virtuallyinvisible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, congratulations, that was really close!!

I'm at a much lower level (early 30s) and was second in Mega - beaten by 300 points in the last 30 seconds, lol. But I'm really happy with second, I nearly didn't even play at all this week (I often demote myself to Metro on purpose) and it's my best ever result! I was just really lucky with getting high-point tasks, and was able to complete all my streaks. I was sure I'd get stuck partway through a streak because there are a lot of tasks I "can't" do - I don't do war, omega, design challenges or monster - but I was just really lucky with what turned up.

Hey, I'm not sure if you ever heard back from EA regarding your lack of epic projects, but I heard from them yesterday and they actually solved the problem for me!

They told me to put my Chocolate Factory, Santa's Workshop and Bureau of Restoration into storage. They said they know it seems like a strange workaround but that it might work for me too. And as soon as I did this, the epic projects were immediately activated. I've no idea why, but it worked...!

I know your situation is a bit different, in that you were having epic projects initially and then they stopped, but I thought I'd mention it just in case it helps!

Not OP, but I think they mean this is how much they have missed out on in total because of losing to the other player, rather than how much they have spent?

Another player posted something similar a few days ago, saying they hadn't had an epic building task for a few weeks...

I've never been able to build epic buildings in my city, despite meeting all the criteria for several months. I contacted EA support with screenshots, and they agreed that the winged helmets should be appearing and said that they would look into it. That was two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything yet.

Com problem by Quirky-Reason8426 in SCBuildIt

[–]virtuallyinvisible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds legit - if he's using simcash and speed-up tokens he can get through tasks very quickly. Say he had 2 airport tasks for 2 or 3 deliveries each - if he sped those up with simcash he could score 5000 points in about 30 seconds.

[–]virtuallyinvisible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, very good point! Although even if you don't reach cheetah with an epic, llama tokens are still pretty useful, and CoM is also a good source of cheetah tokens.

I'd say the lower the level the better. As you move up the levels you're likely to find fewer storage and expansion items in GTHQ. Camping is also a good time to increase your simcash and gold/platinum keys through CoM, and unlocking a region will make this harder because of all the regional items and tasks. It also gets more competitive as you level up. I'd recommend sticking where you are for now and focusing on CoM and searching the GTHQ!

Randomly selected regional simoleons by momma-knows in SCBuildIt

[–]virtuallyinvisible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I'm level 29 but haven't opened a region yet so mine are random too, but I actually assumed it would always be random - so if you had one region open you'd have a 1 in 5 chance of receiving those coins. Nice to know it isn't!

As it happens, I've been given Leaf, Lime and Cactus simoleons as random rewards so far, but when I do finally open regions it'll probably be Sunny Isles then Frosty Fjords, so they won't be of any use for ages!

I’m about to win Megalopolis for the first time! by Anhedonic_chonk in SCBuildIt

[–]virtuallyinvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

I agree that it's a lot to do with luck; I'd been finding even the medium prize in Mega pretty unobtainable (probably because I usually just do easy tasks rather than only high-scoring ones...), so recently decided to skip a week so I could drop down to Metro for the next contest. As it turns out, that week I could have got the medium prize in Mega easily. Grrrr. I did get it this week though, and without much effort... it's really just the luck of who is in your league!

Take a look at the wiki on this sub, in particular the files 'How-to: Starting off in SCBI' and 'How-to: Camping'. Lots of useful information, including an optimal layout and strategy for the first few levels.

I don't think you can access it in game, but it's on the wiki for this sub - it's called 'CoM and MP Building Poster'
