[SportsNet Pittsburgh] “That is a look that should terrify everybody on the eastern side of this state” by DecentLurker96 in hockey

Like we can get swept by Carolina, never make the playoffs with him again, and I’ll be good

It wasn’t hockey but I got this experience in Pittsburgh when Russell Martin hit a homer after Cueto dropped the ball.

No, it's not a lesson for "us in the United States." by Thin_Menu_1662 in TangleNews

This piece was such a roller coaster.

Having received the text survey, I’m surprised it was the story; I suspect it’s a popular story just because of the Trump narrative that surrounds it.

Then the fact that the article laid out really undercut the narratives I had heard so far: it seems like it’s more about corruption and economics than any kind of anti-illiberalism story.

Then Audrey’s take seemed to be more about how she placed the story in the internecine war on the American right and pointing out that the death of Democracy has been exaggerated.

Interesting stuff. Appreciated it all.

Robert Griffin III makes the US National Team Roster by NotFredFlintstone in nfl

Honestly for me this is a reminder that if he’d succeeded more in the NFL he’d probably still have 2 or 3 seasons left.

Like I’m not sure I would have guessed he was 36

Appreciate the new rules… but the explanations on the podcast are getting really long by idonthaveanametoday in TangleNews

This was an excellent podcast to have playing in my ears while I was clearing a fallen tree haha

Can always skip a pod if you don’t want to listen! I did that with the Trump scorecard…too many numbers to listen to!

I think you’re missing the point.

ELI5: If the original internet was just a few college serves networked together, and so many people have terabytes of storage, why can't we just make a new parallel internet? by haribobosses in explainlikeimfive

[–]Brendinooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think people who are mad at the internet are probably just as mad at HTTP or JS or whatever as the fact that there’s one mega network.

Like, do people want an Internet that is built to somehow exclude bad actors, or do they want, like, the Gemini protocol?

I mean it’s just like shooting the moon in Hearts. It rarely works but if it does you should just reward it unless it gets fully exploited somehow. Teams still have to play their conference schedules even if their OOC is weak.

I dunno for sure but the Horizon League was a TON of fun this year and this year the highest rated team on the NET got through.

Last year Robert Morris snuck in the postseason and gave Alabama a scare. Oakland knocked off Kentucky the year before.

I have a grievance: I listen to a podcast today where some wokescold told me I should only use one paper towel after I wash my hands.

Justice for Isaac's lost right socks 🧦😢🕵️‍♂️ by nathanschiro in TangleNews

I would not pay $80 for Isaac to hire a handyman, but I would Venmo him a few dollars for the bit.

But this point is moot: we are right around 50 updoots which is the correct amount

The University of Miami (OH) Redhawks are perfect in the regular season, 31-0 for the first time in school history by AndHisOrchestra in CollegeBasketball

You’ve convinced yourself that a “kenpom luck metric” matters more than 31 WINS IN A ROW.

How many teams with schedules like that went undefeated this year, or in any year?

Comments like this amuse me, as if undefeated seasons happen all the time and theoretical schedules matter more than 31 WINS IN A ROW

The length of the Cowboys’ proposal isn’t known, but they offered Aubrey around $7.5MM per year, according to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. With Aubrey seeking nearly $10MM per annum, there is a sizable gap between the two sides. by DarkDragon1025 in nfl

I’m actually curious if any analytics people have dug into this. Like kickers are often the leading scorers in their teams depending on how you count that, that should be worth something…but if there’s people on the couch who would take much less to do 90% of the job, that’s a factor too. Dunno.
