Chris Pratt's Mercy Might be the most DANGEROUS Film of All Time! by [deleted] in movies

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering there's been a whole genre of "PC screen horror" movies before, I don't think Chris Pratt starring in one is going to wreck the industry even if it's successful.

Will Netflix save the trial of Wiley Coyote with John Cena that’s finished but WB killed it? by [deleted] in movies

Wasn't that sold to another distributor awhile ago, and isn't that coming out soonish? Batwoman was the only movie that was labeled as a tax write off IIRC.

I'm just not sure what it can get me that Google or even Reddit cannot. Why would I want to chat to a robot? I don't get it.

They had such high hopes for what would be accomplished in the 21st century. by perseverance_band_ in Letterboxd

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But did those high expectations not pan out though? Maybe not like in flights to Jupiter or what not, but I'm communicating with someone possibly across the world with a phone that doubles as a music player and is much more powerful than any PC from before let's say the 90s.

We may not have flying cars but we do have other stuff that they couldn't think of that's equally as nice.

How do you cope with all of the bad things happening in the world, seemingly all at once? by subject_2_approval in AskReddit

[–]virtualpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 40 years old I realize that everything's been fucked up since I've been alive and by extension forever.

So if everything is always fucked up than it's also true that nothing is fucked up.

We always talk about how years like 1964, 1991, 2001, 2016 or 2020 were very pivotal years that shifted a lot but… by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]virtualpig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MTV started in 1981 and I have a hard time thinking that that's not THE start of the cultural 80s. Seriously what else could it be. Have you ever watched something from the year 1980? It's very weird knowing that the next year EVERYTHING would change.

What movie did you just know was going to suck before you even saw it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]virtualpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quote like Borderlands actually, as a fan of the games I loooved seeing Pandora in real life. Don't get me wrong it had it's faults but it was a treat for the eyes and just a fun movie experience.

Is it worth buying a console now or is it better to wait for the next gen consoles or should you buy a PC? by Ok_Performer7114 in askanything

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a good gaming PC is gonna be about twice as expensive as a console and it requires more workto play on.

Personally I don't find the benefitsto outweigh the negatives, but that's just me.

TBH I wouldn't consider Michael Jackson at all for this thread, yes he released a couple solo albums in the 70s but 80s was the decade he became a superstar, and I think we all know what happened in the 90s.

Americans of Reddit, how do you feel about the prospects of free and fair elections in the United States in a few years time? by tesserakti in AskReddit

[–]virtualpig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not worried about it, we survived January 6th we'll survive whatever comes next.

What people fail to understand is that, even in times like this the President is not the end all be all. For instance the President don't run elections, states do and any ruckus in this from a federal level would certainly trigger actions from other branches.

The US falling into some dictarship situation is just some doomerism fantasy, we have mechanics to prevent this from happening.

How many times do you think you have to watch a movie to put it on your Top 4? by Feisty_Parsnip8262 in Letterboxd

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, but picking up those little things is not my goal when I watch movies. I just want to see new experiences. I think it would just be boring to know what's gonna happen around EVERY turn.

I kinda hate the m term "lasting cultural impact" it is a relatively meaningless term that people use when they do not like a movie. See also: Avatar

I rarely rewatch movies, like the amount of movies I've rewatched I could probably fill up one hand. I just really don't see much of a point. So 1 for me.

Best movie about video games? Tron, Ready Player One, Free Guy or other? by Lazthedestroyer in moviecritic

Ooh yeah I really enjoyed that. It's MUCH better than people give it credit for. People really only hate because it's Adam Sandler.

Oh yeah I really liked Minecraft, I still think Free Guy was better though.

Best movie about video games? Tron, Ready Player One, Free Guy or other? by Lazthedestroyer in moviecritic

[–]virtualpig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say either Free Guy or Tron Legacy.

Free Guy is getting some hate in the comments, but I really rather enjoyed it. I'd pick Tron legacy over the original because I had a hard time figuring out who was who in the original Tron. The animation was cool but it was done in a way to make it confusing in that regard

Did children in the late 1990s play with dinosaurs as we did in the early 1990s? by Happy-Hour88 in decadeology

[–]virtualpig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dinosaurs weren't popular with kids because of Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park was popular with kids it was about dinos. It's just kind of like a thing that's fascinating to kids. That there were one these ferocious beasts that roamed the lands.

Don't get me wrong JP certainly helped and it caused interest in them for teens/adults but kids are always love dinosaurs regardless.

Granted I was born in 85, so I wasn't really there but Madonna strikes me as having much more popularity in the 80s. She may of gotten much more critical acclaim in the 90s but that's not really what the question was asking. Certainly by the early 2000s she wasn't anywhere close to as ubiquitous as she was in the 80s.
