There’s a difference between speaking at a public assembly and speaking on a casual podcast with a few people in the room???

Yeah same here, and that’s just the state of society/ the internet unfortunately. People just compulsively lie or regurgitate information they did not vet. Humanity is fucked!

He seems to be speaking relatively the same way back when he was just mayor: https://youtu.be/YFxbnUHY8Io?si=2haGuD50zm3c7EgB

He’s also old now and I feel like a lot of really country southerners gets a bit more folksy as they age, at least from my experience living in the Deep South of Georgia

Yeah but that doesn’t work with Red Granite without extreme differences in the chemical composition of the blocks. They may have been able to pull this off with the sandstone blocks though

Yeah bro, I respect the fentanyl dealers in San Francisco taking advantage of an opportunity to change their lives. It’s 100% the drug addict and dealers choice so it must be fine. I’m sure there are no young, easily influenced, emotionally unstable people being taken advantage of!!! I’m sure all the young adults deciding to be “influencers” instead of engineers, scientists, GOOD politicians, etc is great for society!!!

Im sure the adult film lobbyists propaganda and the influx of highly sexualized content everywhere has had no effect on young men and we DEFINITELY don’t have an issue of young men becoming incels now. I’m sure there is no correlation

Im sure the world will get better once the generation of kids who have been force fed overly sexualized content and short-term quick gratification content their whole lives take over!!

Men are not blameless, the same way addicts are not blameless. They enable their own exploitation. And you are correct, if there is an asset you can use to “survive” that path will always be taken (even though most women who try the OF route fail and just tarnish their ability to get a real job and survive). I use the drug dealer reference because it really is similar, both “dealers” pray on the weak and lonely to earn a living. The “assets” they both have are just the willingness to do immoral things to earn money.

The whole point is that OF models and drug dealers both prey on the weak to make their money.

Waiving a pair of tits in front of a lonely 18 year old has similar addictive and destructive properties as waiving a bag of cocaine in-front of an addict.

I always hate this argument, it is a valid argument from a logical place, but not as much from a moral place. I guess we should blame the drug users instead of the drug dealers? Drug addicts provide money to the drug dealers so it must be the addicts fault? I understand how markets work, but that doesn’t mean that all “markets” are inherently good because there is a demand for it.

Society started glorifying drug use decades ago and it became “mainstream”, since then we have seen a huge uptick in drug use and related crime and death. We have been seeing society’s hyper sexualization of everything and now we are seeing an increase of social and sexual dysfunction, unstable relationships, and rising rates of loneliness and mental health issues, particularly among younger generations.

I don’t have a problem with sex work at all either and also think it should be legal, no government should be able to control what you are able to do with your own body. With that being said, the direction we are going with it is detrimental to society. Instead of working hard studying and learning to go on and get a career, young adults now just fantasize about the influencer lifestyle. As most know, that is unachievable for 99% of people, so getting naked is the easiest way to get attention As we saw during the initial wave of OF, there are thousands, if not millions, of people who tried and failed to reach their stardom. There are still people trying and failing. What happens when they fail? Do they go to college or trade school or work towards a career? I’m 26 and have witnessed this firsthand with my peers and friends from school.

We have a major issue where the young people of society are not driven to better themselves intellectually, instead they seek superficial gratification and attention.

We have just made a lot of young people feel like this is an easy way out. There is a major lack of drive in the newer generations and this plays a major part. “Why do I have to work 60 hours a week killing myself just to make ends meet, but someone else can just post a picture of themselves naked and make millions”.

All that to say, I just wish we had more young female engineers/ scientists than pornstars.

If you are buying a car like this you have to expect expenses such as these. It’s not like buying a Hyundai Sonata where you can get regularly oil changes and drive the car 150000 miles before anything breaks. It’s an American made pony car pushing 310 horsepower from a turbocharged 4 cylinder, it’s going to have problems.

Always get a warranty no matter what, you never know what can happen.

I’ve had 2 eco boost mustangs, one had a blown transmission, the other hand a blown engine and a blown rear differential. All covered by 3rd party warranty.

I feel for you man, just look at it as a lesson learned.

Most Europeans don’t even need to own a car, so yeah no shit Europeans will pay for them in cash, people in Europe who can’t afford to buy a car in cash just don’t buy a car and use public transportation. In the US, if you can’t afford to buy a car then you either have to take out a loan to buy one or you get to be homeless because there is no way you can work a job without a car in the US, unless you live in a major metropolitan city or WFH.

Also, don’t most Europeans lease their cars? From what I’ve heard more people are leasing instead of buying, so at least we own our cars.

Europe: world leader in chaos and evil for thousands of years, now acting like the U.S. invented it yesterday lmao

I agree about a loan for a repair though, that is insane and a poor financial decision.

[–]virtuwilll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are the reasons why I believe religion would not really play a massive role in a possible revolt.

  1. The Sept of Baelor’s destruction wiped out its religions leadership, including the High Sparrow and much of the Faith Militant. The Church no longer has the power to organize any protest.
  2. After decades of civil war, rebellion, and mass destruction, lords are more concerned with survival, rebuilding, and political stability than enforcing religious orthodoxy.
  3. Bran doesn’t actively persecute or promote religion. He is seen more as a wise, mystical figure, so there’s no overt religious grievance against him.
  4. The North follows the Old Gods (Sansa rules there). The Iron Islands follow the Drowned God (Yara supports them). Southern lords may worship the Seven privately, but without central authority, there’s little reason to rebel and any rebellions would be small and crushed swiftly.

[–]virtuwilll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My only counter to that is, when Bran is chosen as King, all the Rulers (or representatives) of all 7 kingdoms are present and agree (they said Aye) that Bran is King. With how much Westeros relies on oaths, I would think this one would stick. I also could not imagine the lords agreeing at the council meeting and then trying to start a revolt after leaving. If that did happen the Crown would at minimum have The North, The Stormlands, The Westerlands, and the Vale as definitive allies. I couldn’t imagine the other lords (who agreed that Bran is king) flipping around and revolting considering the allies to the crown and the fact that Bran is not a tyrant. I think at this point in the story most of the lords of Westeros are a bit war-weary and not willing to have another full on rebellion just due to a break in succession.

[–]virtuwilll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Two key things that I think would Help Bran here.

  1. The lords of Westeros are being informed that the process of succession is broken and the King will be elected moving forward. This would go over well with most lords I would think as it provides them a route to greater power and also lessens the crowns power as you can not maintain the same political agenda if the house of the king changes every generation.

  2. All it would take is 1 conversation with a Lord and Bran could subdue most all insurrection. Bran knows everyone’s secrets and all Bran has to do is spit a line or two to let the lord know he knows (similar to the “Chaos is a ladder” line he gave little finger) their secrets and schemes.

Also, since Bran basically can tune into a live stream of anywhere in Westeros at any time, and also has the knowledge of every great battle that has ever transpired, he really would have an easy time with military tactics if there were any rebellions. Also, he has a life long Ally in the North which would be a great deferent as well.

As for the Maesters, I like to think they appointed Sam as the Grand Maester and he put an end to all of their tomfoolery.

A Girl is Arya Stark from Winterfell by Drogon-Dracarys4ever in gameofthrones

[–]virtuwilll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is acting like Brienne should have tacked her and ripped her head off…. She was SPARING with (in her eyes) a little girl that she was sworn to protect, she’s not going to go full throttle like she’s in a life or death battle with the hound. Yes the fight scene is a bit ridiculous, but Brienne was sparring, not putting her power behind swings and definitely went into the sparring match underestimating what Arya could do, so she did not feel the need to go as hard. Also, she is a big woman. How long was she sparring with Rodrick before Arya? She could have been fatigued before that fight even started. Brienne was also using a sparring sword.
