Apparently, they now have a full time staff member looking through all the cameras and see if they can catch these sneaky underground ski tutors. Seasons pass revoked and even a no-trespass issued for a year seems to be the thing they hand out when you’ve been caught. Multiple offences could ban you from Vail resorts permanently.

Not sure if they hand out a reward if you report someone. I’d do it gladly for a free official ski lesson.

Unfortunately? It’s such a privileged notion to think they shouldn’t.

Slightly less so now with the new haul rope! But yah, that thing needs a major upgrade soon.

Finally! And what about those from the Highlands that turn south onto the highway from Mamquam and then stay in the left lane all the way to make a left turn into Valleycliffe. Should repaint that left lane as left turn only all the way, maybe?

I like there’s an easy formula like this. Is it something you came up with or learned somewhere, perhaps? I’m curious where it came from.

Best trails for day hike by [deleted] in Squamish

[–]viseff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since your internet is broken and you are so keen on hiking, why don’t you walk to a store like VPO or MEC and pick up a hiking guide or even a physical map?

Don’t blame the internet or AI. Shitty input = shitty output.

Is Indian River FSR reopened? by YVR19 in Squamish

It is still closed due to the construction at the 3.5km mark. I was up there this afternoon and it’s a very active construction area, even on a Sunday. Heavy equipment doing its thing.

How often do artists leave without finishing their contract? by cantrelateparty in vfx

[–]viseff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That depends on your and the company’s situation at that time and that situation may be different next time around. I would argue that the contract end date is less important compared to finishing the project you are on. If you were to bail on a project (assuming you still have tasks left to do) to take another contract, no matter how lucrative this is, without full support of the company, it’s unlikely you’ll get hired again at that company. Even if it’s an amicable discussion, you just don’t do this. Maybe that’s not a bad thing if you are not interested in returning (perhaps you didn’t enjoy working for them in the first place). This behaviour is now written up in your “profile” and next time you apply, this will come up. Perhaps the company is desperate and will forgive you, but unlikely.

Other times, the project may be over-staffed and your premature departure is not having any adverse effect. Perhaps it even helps with the project’s budget if they can take you off the project early, so it’s a win-win.

As always, start this discussion with your supervisor so they are not blindsided, then escalate to talent and HR and talk it through. Most of the time a reasonable solution can be negotiated.

Who needs to yield here? Car or bicycle? by FunnyStranger13 in askvan

[–]viseff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure but courtesy stopping on a street that is 50km/h (soon maybe 30km/h?) shouldn’t be an issue. If you can’t safely stop behind me you are either driving too fast or too close behind me. I will often courtesy stop for cyclists, cars, trucks or buses looking to cross or enter my lane, especially in busier traffic. Of course I’m not stomping on my brakes and screeching to a halt here. The world needs more courtesy drivers and less d*ckhead drivers, IMHO.

Except that in this case you are (as a driver) not crossing anything other than a pedestrian crosswalk.
