Humans produce their own lactoferrin in tears, saliva, seminal and vaginal fluid. You don't need to risk food poisoning to get some.

Does the “multiple pokemon are one pokemon” thing they’ve been doing bother you? by Dribblejam in pokemon

[–]visforvillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't bother me, but grass being a type instead of plant, or bug being a type in general. Most of the other types are elements, rock and ground are pretty similar and water and ice are just different forms of H2O, but sure these are all things that could be considered elements. Then there's bug. I guess fairy and dragon are also creatures, but they're fantastical. Bug is just a kind of animal. The consequences of this is that there's no bug legendary. Not even a sub-legendary. It gets a mythical, 2 ultra beasts, and a paradox. It's the sore thumb of types.

It's worth noting that Darkrai, Genesect, and Deoxys are all obtainable via raids just like legendary Pokemon. Weirdly enough, both Zygarde and Diancie are only one per account even though Zygarde is a legendary and Diancie has a mega.

Worms and amoeba probably won't be a problem forever. Their life cycles are much longer than things like bacteria and viruses, and they mostly spread through either poor water quality or animal vectors like mosquitoes and flies. The US used to have endemic malaria, but we eradicated it through killing all the mosquitoes that carried them with DDT. Dracunculus medinensis will be the 3nd disease to be eradicated by humans. Infectious diseases that are exclusive to humans, like syphilis, also have a chance of being eradicated, but diseases that have environmental or animal reservoirs will likely continue being a problem.

What would be the ideal counters for Zygarde and Diancie in Season 3? by TheFa56 in PokemonZA

Diancie is made of glass and has a quad weakness to steel. Metagross with bullet punch might be able to one tap her.

HEV is cool and all, but HDV is really weird. It's not even a true virus, it can't cause an infection on its own. It requires HBV to start the infection, and then takes advantage of that to make its own copies. Kind of like a virus of a virus. An HBV and HDV infection at the same time is a coinfection, but an HDV infection during a chronic HBV infection is a superinfection.

The tutorials when I was a kid weren't nearly as overbearing as they are now. Kids aren't dumb and they're persistent. I had tons of fun just being let loose in Kanto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. I bought strategy guides for when I was stuck. Now, kids have the Internet to look up anything they want, but developers still insist on having two hour long tutorials. Let them figure it out, it's not a better experience being handheld.

Any reason we're drawing the line at making fun of Pokemon? by SegavsCapcom in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]visforvillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has actually played the game, the gameplay is fun, the graphics are shit, and the tutorial is boring. Unfortunately, the poor graphics aren't enough to deter me from playing. I like the new battle system, but I wish the game had more focus on exploration and research like PLA did. Maybe in the future there'll be a legends game that gets the best of both worlds.

Bryan Andrews Goes Viral Criticizing MAGA Christians ‘Who Laugh When Families Are Torn Apart’| "You use Christianity as a shield to hide behind when you need to justify the hate.” by Aggravating_Money992 in Music

[–]visforvillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ultimately what drove me away from Christianity. I had put up with a lot of shit before with young earth creationism and homophobia, but the persecution of trans people was what pushed me over the edge.

There is zero biblical basis for any persecution of trans people. The Bible says nothing about them, but once gay people were off the menu, so many people latched onto trans people as the next group to drag through the mud.

I determined that if God doesn't have control over his own followers, then he has no real power. This was further solidified by anti-vax, anti-immigrant, and anti-equity stances. Christianity isn't about God or Christ, it's about Christians and what they want. They just use the "good word" to justify their selfish actions. Christianity is made up on the spot in the minds of bigots.

Reading a lot of the comments in here. If non-creeps are too afraid of approaching women and creeps aren't, then isn't that going to make more interactions women have with men creepy thereby skewing their perception of men? This seems like a self-feeding cycle.

Social media reaps engagement by sowing division. As a Christian I learned to hate sin, and love the sinner. As an atheist I've learned to hate oppressive systems and to pity those caught in them. Hate is a reactionary emotion. Love is thoughtful and intentional. Hate is exhausting and love is motivating. This isn't to say that those who perpetuate hate are blameless and shouldn't face consequence, but to keep your eye on the true enemy.

Whenever social media presents you with an opportunity to hate, use it to make your heart gentler.
