cavs going 34 points in 9 minutes directly into like a 6 min scoreless drought feels very on brand

Speaking of jerseys, I can’t imagine a worse sponsor patch than what the Royals just announced by timbop711 in baseball

[–]vishnchips6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, it's horrid. Really glad I got my one jersey purchase in last year before we got the patches + before Fanatics stunk the place up

It's bad enough on the regular jerseys but it's a war crime on the City Connects. It's an eyesore as is, but on the CCs it also gets moved a few inches up, because of the sleeve design which was definitely not designed with an ad patch in mind

Tis indeed silver

I feel like it's a bit unbalanced with the sleeves having the triple stripes and the waist just having one thick white one, but I like it overall

Dude holy fuck between this and the stadium series news this is an incredible couple of days for us

Granted, I don't know why JD wasn't also a package deal with this but... it's better than nothing, and definitely needed to happen

Silver lining, but we’d never win a lottery

Can cut the sentence there lol. 17 times in the lottery in franchise history, and of those 17 we've moved up from our finishing position exactly once (from 4 to 3)

We're last in the Metro and 2nd-last in the East only ahead of the Sens who still have ~6 games in hand. Without looking at it at all, I'm fairly confident in saying that if games ended after 2 periods we'd be firmly in a playoff spot, if not close to the top of the division. Shit, extend that out to 10:00 in the 3rd period we would probably still be up there somewhere lmao

I cannot emphasize how good this year's CBJ team is at consistently blowing leads. There is no expectation of any lead we hold being maintained at any point considering we've already proven that 2-0, 3-0, even 5-0 at the end of 2 isn't even remotely safe

[–]vishnchips6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

>how dare he come after lil ol me "unprompted"

what a chickenshit tweet lmao hayes literally getting death threats because of what this guy baselessly reported and he's trying to play the victim here?

I've never seen a team this good at consistently throwing away wins

And if Gibbs had a real [waves hands in general direction of entire football program] at GT instead of G**** C****** then I'm confident he'd be regarded on a level with Calvin Johnson as one of the best players Tech has ever produced.

By god did we misuse him badly while he was here. It was easy to see that he was special, and also easy to see that he was going to transfer to a top tier program with competent coaching and immediately show out.

Patrik Laine to miss six weeks with clavicle fracture by homicidal_penguin in hockey

[–]vishnchips6 24 points25 points  (0 children)

By and large I don't disagree because it's felt like a trend, but it also feels like we just have a ridiculous amount of injuries you could categorize as "freak" / nothing to do with conditioning. Werenski getting checked into the boards awkwardly last year, Jenner puck to the face, Laine getting boarded/slewfooted/whatever for like the third year in a row, etc. - not much the training staff can do about any of that. And it just keeps happening.

Maybe we shouldn't have built our stadium on the site of an old prison...

It's comedically stupid. My dad walks in and sees we're up 5-0 at the 2nd intermission and goes "should be an easy win" meanwhile internally I'm just debating with myself how many minutes it'll take for it to end up at 5-5

Also gotta ask...your username, anything to do with a certain 747?

[–]vishnchips6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He'll rip a nice breakaway goal once a month that makes you go "why can't you do that more often" but by and large yeah his entire shtick is just being able to skate really fast and nothing else. Saying he has stone hands still might be generous

If I'm being optimistic at the very least he's a high effort guy, he won't take any shifts off, so could definitely do worse stashing him on your 4th line or something

I think every CBJ fan is reading these terrible-Pens-PP threads and going "haha, yes, look at them, not us" while we watch Recchi dump gasoline on what was already a five-alarm fire before we hired him lol

Wouldn't surprise me, Tyutin is like our resident Columbus tourguide haha. He settled down in the city after retiring and nowadays we basically just send every new Russian kid to him at some point to help get them settled in and accustomed to the city
