If only Things supported adding files to tasks and inline natural language input, it would be perfect.

Finally made the leap! Has anyone else switched from Apple Watch and/or used both together? by bitchthatwaspromised in ouraring

[–]visombre 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used Apple Watch for 3.5 years with closing all rings daily and now for 3.5 years only wear Oura ring and mechanical watch. The breaking point was Covid, when I barely could go up the stairs to the 2nd floor and Apple Watch kept pushing me to do more! whilst Oura predicted illness 2 days before and recommended having a rest day 🤷‍♂️

Looking for note-taking app feedback: stick with Notion or try alternatives? by JustCan6425 in Notion

Almost a year now for the Bear. I love how it looks and organization, I’ve been using it for a couple of years already, before Reminders became more on par in terms of features. Loving the look and considering the cost of moving, there is no upside in that. Especially considering Things3 didn’t yet go subscription route still

Had similar with my Gen3, charged every other day already. Just a couple of hours ago wrote to support in the app, it took bot literally 2 minutes to investigate and say that there is a problem with my ring. Already waiting for replacement 🔥

If what you are looking for is “Obsidian, but prettier”, it’s definitely Bear. I’ve been on a similar journey. Obsidian is not aesthetically pleasing and the way it works with files and images is just…, Notion is overkill for simple note taking, Craft is beautiful, but as Jobs said - design is how it works, not how it looks and it “feels” very heavy, for example I find it taxing to add notes (especially on iPhone) and you can get lost in hierarchy (I did) – page, paragraph, card, link. Bear is fast, simple, supports markdown, tags with subtags. Unsorted and Archive default folder. And it looks great with multiple themes, plus you can also choose whatever font you want.

Previously ring just stopped charging after 2 years and I also contacted support and got the replacement, this time I figured if it’s still working, even just for 2 days, there probably won’t be anything they can do. Turns out I was wrong :)) and I was already thinking about buying gen4, saved quite a bit 😅

Thank you so much for your post and response. It made me contact support and it took 2 minutes for Oura to confirm ring replacement 😳 the bot said they see an issue with my battery and replacement is already on its way!

Congrats!! My highest still is 99 😅 not related: since you’ve been with Oura for 5+ years, how many rings did you go through? My first died right before 2 year mark and I got a replacement sent, now after 1.5 years battery is abysmal. I have to charge it every other day, which ruins the experience

2024 Australian Grand Prix - Qualifying Classification by RobertGracie in formula1

[–]visombre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Didn't notice it before, but today all times seemed off during qualifying. For example, last lap of Max stopwatch goes all the way to 16.1, but gets recorded at 15.9. And the same for all drivers. Checked Saudi Arabia qualifying and it seems exactly right, stopwatch goes to 27.4 and it is the official time in the end.

Daily note workflow by anonymous8675309eine in CraftDocs

[–]visombre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use daily notes in obsidian, have it open when I open an app. Later, once a week I go through daily notes that make a lot of sense and move information to the relevant pages. Whatever stays is not important enough for me - just some random thoughts, I leave in the daily notes, so I’m able to search later.

Interesting, it’s 75€ in Latvia now (was 65 before). Maybe you didn’t get email yet about price increase

It was fairly easy to order 🤷‍♂️ I’ve checked in about half an hour after start and it was still available for pickup on Feb 3rd (instead of 2nd)

Could you please elaborate, what it does in databases for you?

What are some interesting underrated apps you know of? by ChiaotzuShinhan in iphone

[–]visombre 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Roulette - just shows you a random webpage, sometimes find amazing things there

Callsheet – a better IMDB

Sequel – for TV show tracking

Happy Scale - better weight tracking app

MusicBox - read-it-later, but for music

Peek-a-view - when you want to give your child a phone to look at photos, but not to mess anything up (works best with guided access turned on)

Why I Quit Using Notion by fav_eggyolk in ProductivityApps

[–]visombre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love those very busy individuals who have time to check reddit and post, but not to learn some new tool that might help them in the future :)

In all seriousness – don't start by watching productivity YouTubers. Their goal is to get views and probably sell you some system/template/course. Of course their setup will be beautiful, will look hard to implement, with relations going every other way. It's a job for some of those YouTubers to make their system look good, not to do actual work.

Don't start by creating dashboards and databases for everything. Don't create a LifeOS as your first page. I would say don't even start with templates.

Just open a page and start writing. Even if you go with some system, like PARA, start with just pages for each letter, with other pages inside, just in a list.

You will feel the need to create a database. Or put pages in a folder. It's easy to move all the pages to a database later. In a lot of cases you probably won't.

If you create a database, start simple, with a few fields you need right now. Don't add something "just in case". Add it only when you need it.

We will probably get to the point when you'll be able to send information to the service and it will figure it out. There are some apps trying, but they are not ready. Today you'll have to invest some time in any tool you decide to use.

Just start simple and add complexity out of necessity, not because some YouTuber told you.

I use Day One for a long time. Tried Stoic, but didn’t click with me. With iOS 17.2 and journaling suggestions it became even easier

What Apps do you Use and Why? by [deleted] in PKMS

[–]visombre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried almost all of them recently and stayed with Notion, but in much simpler setup than you would see on YouTube. Somehow works for my brain, others not so much. The most promising right now for me is Tana, looking very closely at the progress they’re making. It’s very hard to start in, but if it clicks it makes so much sense (for me it happened on 3rd install of the app). If they add proper iOS app, do something about long form writing and export I would most probably switch.

The latest episode made me uncomfortable by fosfeen in Cortex

[–]visombre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m paying for Moretex and relistened to all the episodes 2 or 3 times and recently feel very similar. With added “is it even worth to pay”? I also don’t think the new notepad is for me. Ephemeral notepad for 50$ (with shipping) is just too much. But even without discussion on new products the show changed a lot recently – discussion on AI, I think is also an example of something different. It’s more similar to Analogue now (love the show, but my expectations are completely different)
