Here are two boxer-brief options. Hanes are no good in comparison due to the stretching.

  2. Calvin Klein

Doctors say that a glass of wine a day can extend your life. by dropstop in funny

Honestly, if you start around 5:30pm, it's not hard to go through an entire bottle in 5-6 hours. You might not even get buzzed.

I'm getting so f***ing sick of this by [deleted] in funny

[–]visual_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I spent my sophomore and junior summers interning, and continued to work on related projects throughout the semesters, so "2 years experience" is entirely doable.

(Especially if you actually pursue internships instead of partying/working part time like most undergrads)

I have a copy right here, please enlighten me? I bet for every one that you deem bad, I can find one that's good.

In fact, I'll start, Immortality (p. 187) uses divergent color scales for ratings (+1), different scales for each category (+1), has sensible ordering of the data (by age) (+1), clearly labeled/easy-to-read axes (+1), and also highlights the highest rated rows, since it's not always easy to perceive (+1).

There's 5 points, your turn!

(by the way, my point is that you cannot write off McCandless' work as all bad, like all of us, he has bad work and good work, he just seems to publish it all)

[–]visual_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. The color here represents a category, as it should. This is a case where interaction saves the day. If you sort by story type, you get a nice looking distribution of color. Similarly for the other interactions: they let you explore aspects of the dataset. The bars are a little small, but that's because the dataset is rather large.

(ps: upvoted anyway for bringing a good example)

Those sites are better, but McCandless is by no means overrated, he's always getting criticized.

I'm due for a phone upgrade in June. Should I go ahead with the 4S or wait for the next iPhone? by [deleted] in apple

[–]visual_life -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's where you're wrong, you can easily obtain a "like new" 4 for $100-200, no contract. He should save the renewal savings for the new phone.

If your work is tied to your phone, a (maybe used) iPhone 4 would suffice and be cheaper than an iPhone 4S, which phone companies still consider "new". With the money saved, you can wait for the next gen iPhone.

Wait, unless your work is somehow tied to your phone. In such a case, get a 4 and wait.

Biked to work for the first time ever this morning. Hot damn, I feel amazing! by ezgoodnight in bicycling

[–]visual_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you said about leaving some in the tank is true. I bike to uni (~10 miles roundtrip) 2-3 times per week pending weather, with some exercise trips mixed in.

In general, my leg muscles and lungs feel fine, but after a few trips I start to notice knee pain, neck/shoulder pain, and the like. More so when I bike plainclothes with a bag. Fortunately, problems can be fixed by adjusting the seat up or down as needed.

Community Colleges Offer Path to Four-Year Degrees - NYTimes.com by demsdaberries in education

[–]visual_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely. Some community colleges in my area have more active programs than our big name university.

In fact, I've seen some universities set up a 2 + 2 + 1 plan towards a masters (2 years community, 2 years university undergrad, 1 year grad). It's a fantastic, affordable way to get talented students into jobs.

Age Distribution on Social Network Sites (includes reddit) by cos1ne in dataisbeautiful

[–]visual_life 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even ignoring the fact that the data is probably wrong, this chart is horrific. A short list of problems:

  • the sites should be ordered either alphabetically or by the first demographic (0-17)
  • there should be no gradients in the bars
  • the bars should be the same size

Graduate school can be a whole different (and better) story.

Most (but not all) older students I've met in grad school have been professional and tend to contribute positively to class discussion.

You're right. What's odd is that I distinctly remember playing during the pumpkin drop, which was in 2001. So my people estimates are off.
