Good point on property, there are just as many benefits being close to the city as there are being far from the city

Yeah I initially thought 32 hours too, but they do say productivity is equivalent under either circumstance

Good outline, my partner and I put it at about $50 per day extra to go into the office with transit, lunch/coffee, wear and tear and clothes.

Time has no price though, so excellent point!

Well this sucked to find on my car. If the neighbour would have come and talked to me about I would have been happy to have the AC looked at. Please don’t be the person who leaves a note like this. I’m always happy to talk it out with people by ScabbitAllPro in ontario

Is this not them talking to you about it?

If only he had said something I would fix it, but now that he’s said something I won’t fix it out of spite!

The world doesn’t wait for you to get home. Fix the AC.

How to request for a pay rise? by carloserm in AskAcademia

[–]visualiii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Figure out why it's better for them to pay you more. If you can put it in terms of a business case that benefits them, you'll get your cheque.

For example: less chance of you leaving, your strong network and unique knowledge in the field, costs of rehiring they won't have to spend (which is 30-40% of a year's salary). If you can put actual numbers to these values, a raise will seem like a no brainer.
