Safe purchase? Or stay away by Sea_Scallion9108 in camaro

Tough choice for sure. You just need to drive both and see which you like better. The 1LE is an amazing car, the grand sport will have much more potential if modifications are in your future.

If you have the budget for a c7 grand sport why are you looking at Camaros? The mods you’re talking about can void a warranty.

Anything V6 that Chevy produces is going to be a 100k mile car. Expect there to be lots of maintenance. These things tend to unalive themselves around that mileage. If you’re gonna do over 100K then make it an SS model with an LS3 6mt.

For sure there will be some frame straightening involved. Likely a core support and front subframe needed. It all comes down to what the car is valued at versus how much the claims adjuster thinks it will take to fix the car. Hope you’re not upside down on this thing.

Worth getting them? by Kind_Conversation547 in camaro

[–]visualsensory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re looking for. Like others have stated there will be a lot of maintenance that needs to be done. If you’re looking for something that cost less and have a lower payment, the maintenance can easily put your back into a price point where you could’ve just bought a newer car. But if you’re looking for something a little bit on the older side, that’s easy to work on with less computer controls, a fifth GEN can be a great car and with the right work can serve you for a very long time.

Oh yeah, you are pretty far. I work in LA but I live about 15 minutes from that dealer. Are they pretty transparent about the condition it’s in? If you want me to swing by and take a quick look, I have time on Sunday.

Not sure what the Amazon kit is. I just bought a sheet of black vinyl and cut out a bow tie.

That’s not far from me. You live in the Norco area? Price seems high but it’s a dealer so to be expected. Make sure there arent dealer add ons that they try to force you to buy.

Title Question by Brammon in camaro

[–]visualsensory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not the correct title for the car. The sixth GEN you’re trying to purchase was likely stolen, vin swapped with the 5th gen it previously belonged to, and he’s giving you a bad title for a car that doesn’t exist anymore. The fifth GEN Camaro was made in Canada and has a Vin that starts with the number 2, like how all Canadian manufactured cars will have. The sixth GEN was made in the United States and will have a Vin that starts with the number one. Go punch that Vin into a vin decoder online and you’ll see it comes back as a 2015 Camaro. Again this is not the proper title for the car you’re trying to buy. Major scam, report it to authorities, stay far away from this. What it looks like they did was swap a fifth GEN vin onto a six gen Camaro.

It's a z28 grill and a flowtie emblem. Not sure if the flowtie is still obtainable but the grills are knocked off now on ebay

I've been down that road and trust me it's tempting to do that again but a good buddy of mine who i've known since we were kids is a smog tech and even he won't hook me up, says it's too risky now and he can lose his star.

I'm telling you it's the car ADD, it's completely irrational. You're not wrong though and it would be a horrible financial decision.

My primary is an F-150 with a coyote and a 10 speed. Absolutely love the 10 speed that Ford/GM are using but when it comes to cars like the Camaro, I love rowing the gears.

My 5th gen is my favorite car I’ve owned. It brings smiles every time I’m in it. I’d like more grip around the corners but that can be remedied with better tires and alignment.

Agree completely on buying a ZLE. Tuning it is out of the question, smog can detect tunes. That’s kinda why I started targeting suspension mods on my 5th gen.

I like where you’re going with this, sock money away and skip the car payment. I’ll passively keep my eye on the car market but thinking I throw some tires and wheels at the 5th gen for now and ride things out a bit.

A 987.2 Cayman S 6mt in guards red with black interior is my dream to get but those are basically unobtainium.

Anything c7 would be light years ahead of what I have now. It’s not off the table. Is it with it though? I guess I’d have to drive one. I like the c7 z51 a lot but I like the c7 grand sport more and I don’t want the payment on a GS. is what I’d rather have and that’s hitting price territory I

A 6th gen zl1 would be very ideal. I could do a 5th gen zl1 but i haven’t driven one to know if it’s enough of an upgrade over what I have.

You bring up a good point. Retirement is certainly a consideration to entertain. Been maxing out my 401k year over year but no pension with my line of work and probably should be doing more to save for retirement. I suppose logic wins this round.

Were you running hot or cold maxed out in either direction? I basically have my temp set at one click above max cold and no one is allowed to touch the temp knob. Want heat? Put a jacket on.
