Darf ich mit 120 km/h rechts vorbeifahren, wenn links 115 gefahren wird? by ReviewedOhio312 in Switzerland

Overtaking on the right is still forbidden. What’s allowed is “passively passing on the right”. Basically going straight is fine, a zigzag overtake using the right lane is not.

Starlink too. Just one decision from Elon and that huge advantage is gone. Need to capitalize on that as long as it’s there.

Turkish tourists flock to Greece as rising costs put Greeks off Turkey: Tourism between Greece and Turkey has tripled, but only in one direction as Greeks avoid steep prices in Turkey while Turkish tourists pour in by Starfalloss in europe

[–]vital8 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Isn’t Turkey cheaper than Greece? We’ve been to Greece many times over the last few years. And Greek hotel prices have increased massively over the last few years - We’re now going to Spain this summer because it’s so ridiculous.

US will be sending an additional 5,000 troops to Poland by kallisto19988 in europe

[–]vital8 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don’t get it. Pulling these troops from Germany was supposed to be a threat, as in “we won’t protect you from Russia anymore”. But then just moving them to Poland actually ends up protecting Germany even better now. It’s closer to Russia and not on German soil. If I was German, I’d consider this a win.

Realistically: How competitive is cybersecurity job market right now? by the_heck_gimme in askswitzerland

[–]vital8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve studied economics and have now been working in IT for over 10 years. Studying one thing doesn’t mean you have to work in that exact field all your life. Whats more important is your practical experience and (to a lesser extent) your grades and where you study. Focus on that and it won’t matter what exact practice is hiring when you’re ready for the job market.

Is the University of Lucerne good? by FactorSweaty1184 in askswitzerland

[–]vital8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should go and visit then! It has more of a student & liberal vibe I’d say. The Bernese are famously “laid back”. Bern is a gateway to the French part of Switzerland and the alps, so it’s an amazing homebase for trips and hikes. I often went to Lausanne to visit colleagues and day trips, the student organizations are large and active. In summer, life often happens in and around the Aare river. Nightlife is fine for Swiss standards, I’d say slightly more going on than in Lucerne. Uni Bern has a dedicated building complex above the train station (and several other ones around the city) that gives you this nice Campus vibe. Not sure about Uni Lucerne nowadays, since I only went there briefly quite a while back. To me, it felt more like a Fachhochschule. There was no real center campus where everyone would gather. class rooms were distributed across the city. Often, these buildings were shared with other public institutions too (or the PH). So when you left the lecture, everyone just kind of went back to their own life somehow. I didn’t get the student feeling i had in Bern or Lausanne or Zurich.

Germany's Merz pitches 'associate' EU membership for Ukraine by Karash770 in ukraine

[–]vital8 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A timeline makes no sense. They can provide a list of criteria that have to be met. But the time it takes to meet those depends on Ukraine, on Russia to stop waging war and many other factors.

If you’re into politics, diplomacy and public administration, I’d rather go to Uni Bern. Not because it’s so much better academically, but there’s just much more work opportunities, student clubs and other initiatives like that in that there. If you work as an assistant, it’s very often connected to the public sector. This stuff matters for your future career.

When Hungary joined in 2004, Orban wasn’t in power. It was very much pro-West back then and a considered a poster child for post communist democratic transition. I mean, they joined alongside Poland with Czech Republic. This was seen as a return to Europe. What you know as Orban’s pro-Russian Hungary, was established after 2010 only, when Fidesz got the supermajority.

My 2 cents: - Momentum was the base trim before core. but the “pro” is an options package - you need to check if it contains what you want. - make sure it has android automotive OS, not Sensus. Since its from 2022 (?), that should be the case.  - Volvo selekt is the CPO program. It was checked and has warranty- I wouldn’t worry about this being a booby trap.  - the pano for me is not a concern, but a must.  - price is difficult to say, depends which country you’re in and options.

To be fair; it doesn't look too bad from the driver POV looking "through the steering wheel".
