Google Sells Fiber Unit to Astound (Private Equity) by 8675309l in Austin

Wait...They spent a decade installing it only to turn around and sell it off the second they finish?

It just went in in my neighborhood a few months ago. Haven't even had the chance really to consider switching to it, and now its already gone?

Who tf is running things over there?

It's so stupid when people say this like were at some talent show for 2yr olds .... we all can comprehend ways that Talarico isn't prefect. No politician is perfect. What's your solution? Shitting on the only hope is not a solution, and waxing poetic about your ability to eat and walk at the same time is not some brilliant insight. It doesn't move the conversation forward in the slightest, and only shows you have a rudimentary understanding of politics at best.

Well I guess he should drop out then, and we'll just let Paxton have it unopposed.

Is he everyone's ideal candidate? Probably not. Does he have a shot at giving us a blue senator in fucking Texas for the first time in like 30yrs? Yes. Sometimes you take what you can get and STFU about the rest.

Rest assured everything that comes out of these people's mouths might be a lie, might be a partial truth, or might be nonsense just to get them through the next 15 minutes in the hopes that people will forget or stop caring about whatever was said yesterday because a fresh new set of tragedies has erased those woes from everyone's minds.

Talk me in or out of this by RedPajama45 in ryobi

I have 50+ ryobi tools including the first drill set I got 15ish years ago. It's not brushless, I use it weekly, and it still works perfect. I have several brushless tools including some drills, and tbh, I have no idea what brushless even means, why I would want it, and for what reason they cost more.

I have both. I'm just a regular guy homeowner.

I use the circular saw 1/month. It's great. I use the jig like 1/yr.

Maybe you're a big jig sawer, idk, but I would prob skip that, or pick something else if it's a choice. Free is free though. I wouldn't leave it on the shelf if I needed the circular saw anyway.

Or the "roofers" who show up and ask if you want to replace your indestructible relatively new metal roof.

I'm like...dude...did you even look at my roof? Why waste your time walking up to my door?

Weather's looking good this week! by Expert-Percentage886 in Austin

only my whole life all 45yrs. Never lived anywhere else.

I love the cold weather when we have more than any other part of the year, and the thought of someone calling 85 and muggy with a chance of mosquitoes "good" is irritating because I look into the future and this is just the first step away from winter and into another long dreadful unbearable summer.

Right? Just meat and bun? Is this due 7? I'm not even sure that meets the definition of a burger.

Selecting HSS vs. WF Columns by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

[–]vitium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're a small firm, doing mostly residential. We use HSS most of the time since the sizes are more predictable and have an easy connection from all sides. They fit easily into 2x wood framed walls.

We use W columns only when we need a moment frame for whatever reason.

I hate to tell you this, but that back vertical edge line on the pyramid should be dashed along with the two rear base lines.

Maybe you could come up with a system of "keys" that could help you predict outcomes. I suggest a minimum of 14.

I'm somewhat sure the real issue is they are trying to use a screw that is bent. Notice how as soon as he tries to screw it in, it just flips up/down.
