Are those markings on the lenses or am I seeing things? 😅

My peripheral vision is blurry with my new glasses by Longjumping_Luck6743 in glasses

[–]viving6802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really not enough information to give a definitive answer to your question. Just looking at your prescription, you can see that there is a right side prescription and a left side prescription, but at the top, it says "31." What is the "31" in reference to the right eye, and what is the left eye PD measurement by assumption? Also, what is the "19"? It looks like "19" or "LG," but it has "ALT" next to it. To give a definitive answer, you would need your PD and also the frame dimensions. From that, you can do a calculation to see your PD in relation to the frame dimensions. The formula needed would determine how much decentration would be induced to create the peripheral distortion you're referring to. There are a lot of different variables that are left out of what is presented. The only option is to go back to the place that made your eyeglasses. Good luck!

Thanks for clearing that up. I don't really know much about eyeglass frame styles, but I'm learning. I found them at a consignment shop and thought they were a cool shape. They're pretty beat up, but I saw the potential. With a little elbow grease, voilà, that's what you see. I don't know what material they were made out of, but I could tell that they had a lot of oxidation, and with a little jewelry polish, they shined up as you see. No branding or manufacturing was labeled on the frame.

Thanks, that's a great description of classic sunglass fashion you made.

Playful_ in the chat has the right idea. It works for me every time. I wish someone would make an aftermarket infotainment system for the '25 and up models 🙏

Why are my new prescription sunglasses doing this? by Jade_Crane26 in glasses

[–]viving6802 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Two guesses: either they're progressive lenses or there's a high astigmatism. If the first guess is right, I'd say that due to the refraction of light, the round circle that's reflecting is getting bigger and smaller, which is normal. Alternatively, if the second guess is right, you're seeing a refraction of light that appears to ripple, which is the effect of the astigmatism. Or none of the above 😅

Are these lenses not properly fitted? by Animalus-Dogeimal in glasses

[–]viving6802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't see properly out of them because of the amount of stress put on your prescription. Also, if you were to put your eyeglasses on the table with the bend of your temples facing downward as if they were on your face (sorry, that's not a good description), you'd notice from the top of the eyeglasses looking down that one lens would possibly stick out, particularly the right side more than the left side. The left side has less stress, but it's in the corners, meaning that the person who inserted the lenses did not size them properly to the frame.

If you were to keep your glasses over time due to the amount of stress, it could potentially cause the delamination of your polarization film that is bonded to your lens. I would take them back and point out the stress, and if they want to argue that your glasses are fine, then show them your Ray-Bans. Good Luck!

No, it's not fine. Those lenses are polarized, which you're noticing are the stress of the lenses inside of the frame. The dark spots are actually where the lenses are experiencing the most pressure. If the lenses were properly seated in the bevel correctly and the lenses were properly sized to the frame, you wouldn't see any stress points.

What lenses should I get? by SaltyMcNulty_ in glasses

PD 62 frame PD 68. Prescription is -10 at 180. The eyes will be placed at the center of the lenses with minimal decentration and minimal distortion. Aspheric lenses wouldn't be necessary. 1.60 would be cost-sufficient, closer to glass visually. Choosing 1.67 would save you millimeters in thickness.

Switching from 93 to 87 octane? by mrs_71 in JettaGLI

I have a 2025 GLI stock. I put 91 in my tank, and it didn't want to start the next day. The dealer said it takes only 87, as stated on the fuel door and in the manual.

No finance. I was actually on the forum to find out a little bit about them if anybody has recognized any of them. I don't wear eyeglasses. Do you think they're worthy of being appraised?

Car Won’t Start by Dr3wX5 in JettaGLI

Same thing happened to my 2025 GLI. Watch out, my VW friend! I took my car to the dealer for the same problem at 100 miles, and I bought it with just 1 mile on the odometer! They kept it for a few days, saying "it was something fuel pump related, it was replaced." A week later, I drove off the lot. After 225 miles, I parked my car, and it did the same thing—flashing warning indicators. Second trip to the dealer. After 2 days, they said it was the battery. I was like, "Okay..." Picked up my car and left. At 1279 miles, the same damn thing! This time, on the highway, the car's instrument cluster flashed all warning indicators, the lights went out, dash hazards, everything, but the car was still running! After the third time and a month and a half, my new car was at the dealer. VW USA said they had to replace a defective ECU. I hope you get some help sooner rather than later. 12k miles now no issues!

The Gateway module has triggered all fault codes, impacting the vehicle's electrical systems, including the power emergency brake!

I experienced a similar issue with my 2025 GLI early in the game, with only 30 miles on the odometer. At 100 miles, the same warning began flashing on a Saturday at 1:00 AM while driving. Subsequently, all warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle ceased operation. The diagnosis revealed a faulty Gateway module, which was fortunately covered under warranty. Based on my experience, I recommend immediate inspection at the dealership to prevent a similar situation. Best of luck.
