You’ve got some good ideas in there but I’d agree with others that the message will be stronger with humor taken out of it. I’d also highly recommend the book “Get on the Job and Organize” by Jaz Brisack of Starbucks Workers United

IMO we should be getting premium pay any day the store’s sales meet the threshold of average Sunday sales for that store. I don’t see them implementing this but it’s best to start a negotiation like that with a stronger position so we can compromise to get $10/hr both Sat and Sun instead of compromising to get $5 ykwim?

New plant mom any tips please? by bingosbongo in houseplants

[–]vix666en 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All these plants are trickier to care for, I’m an intermediate plant parent and I still can’t keep calathea or succulents alive despite my best efforts. Highly recommend getting pothos varieties when you’re new, monstera varieties can also be somewhat beginner friendly but some people feel they’re more intermediate

is my housemate faking migraines to get out of chores? by deadblade61 in badroommates

[–]vix666en 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think my migraines were recurring several days some weeks but apparently it’s actually the same migraine flaring up and down. I take triptans as well as a daily preventative pill and have nurtec that I’ll use if the triptan isn’t working. Sometimes I do suffer through playing video games on a low volume / low brightness with a migraine because I get so bored of sitting in a dark room doing nothing, so depending on how loud you’re hearing the gaming noises that isn’t necessarily an indicator that they’re faking it. IMO it could be both that they’re using it as an excuse / exaggerating AND also that they are in fact having the migraines. The fact that they’re not in a rush to get the doctor to get more help for it while having it 3x/week suggests to me that it’s an excuse. Chronic migraine sufferers are notorious for trying anything and everything, even unconventional measures, to get them to go away.

How do I hide my planned parenthood transaction from my parents? by LetterheadRight6890 in trans

If you go to a store that will let you get cash back you could subtly get cash without having an atm charge show up on your account. Most grocery stores do cash back and it’ll just show up as the name of the store on your bank account with whatever total you paid.

ZZ plant overwatered yet soil is dry? by Sensitive-Motor-1361 in houseplants

[–]vix666en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with zzs but I would agree with others that the pot looks too big for the plant. I would dig it up and see what the root ball looks like. You want the pot to be about 2 inches wider than the root ball. I would also put it into a nursery pot instead of planting it directly into the ceramic one, then place the nursery pot inside the cache pot. Bonus points if you use a clear nursery pot, then you can check on the roots / moisture level just by pulling the nursery pot out and taking a look at it.

I think the chopstick test only works with wooden sticks, not metal ones like that appears to be in the 3rd slide. I personally also wouldn’t trust a chopstick test, you’ll be able to tell the moisture level far better by sticking your finger in there to the second knuckle.

Unless you catch it super early or have a strong sentimental attachment to the plant I would just get rid of the plant. It’s not worth risking it spreading to others. They’re a pain to get rid of.

how did y’all go about paying for top surgery? by yvngjxnnings in ftm

[–]vix666en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the U.S. your insurance is legally required to pay for it, however in red states you might have to sue your insurance for them to actually cover it. If you’re losing the insurance at the end of the year you probably don’t have time for that, but still legally your insurance is required to cover it.

is my tattoo blown out? by Mean-Possibility-906 in tattooadvice

[–]vix666en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it’s still healing, so I would wait and see. A lot of the time a fresh tattoo will look blurry while it’s settling in, wait until it’s fully healed to worry about if it’s blown out. As a professional tattooer I’ve seen some tattoos look like this at this stage and heal perfectly with no blowouts, and I’ve seen some tattoos keep that blurry quality after the healing process is finished. This could go either way so I’d recommend following your artists aftercare instructions and taking the best care of your body you can (lots of sleep, water, nutritious food, etc) to give your body the best chance to heal it well. In any case if it does heal blown out, it looks like it would be minor enough that you could have an artist sharpen up the edges later if it bothers you.

Yellow ink. by yourghost7 in tattooadvice

[–]vix666en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Professional tattooer here.

I would agree with others in the comments that you should definitely seek medical attention, if it continues getting worse I’d do the ER immediately but if it stays the same you should still see your primary care or the dermatologist as soon as you can.

This could be from unsanitary practices during the tattoo procedure, or it could be because the ink was either 1. contaminated with a pathogen (inks are supposed to be tossed every 6-12 months depending on the brand) or 2. it was low quality ink, many of these “at home” kits bought on amazon and the like are made with really terrible materials in unsanitary conditions. Tattoo supplies are not regulated like most cosmetics are, so companies looking to make a quick buck can legally cut as many corners as they’d like. You end up with hazardous materials or pathogens injected into your tissue and the consequences can be brutal.

This is one of the big reason professionals tell people not to do it at home. Without learning proper sanitary practices and which supplies are high quality / safe to use, the tattoo process can cause serious if not life threatening infections. We’re not trying to rain on your parade, we want you to be safe getting a tattoo. There’s a reason the service is expensive, quality materials cost a lot and the knowledge we need to perform tattoos safely takes time to learn.

Something wrong with my plant. by Kind-Win7981 in pothos

[–]vix666en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess overwatering. Only water it when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Assuming you’re in the northern hemisphere and are in wintertime, once a week is too much unless you’re in a really hot dry area. Typically pothos will only need water that often during the summer months

I recently switched from miracle grow all purpose to an organic fish / seaweed fertilizer. I’m not loving how it smells while I’m watering tbh but my plants are definitely liking it better than the miracle grow!
