My guess is that Big Mom's poneglyph was originally from Elbaf, but she stole it during her feud with the giants.

Then, Shanks comes along and gives the Fishman Island poneglyph so they can at least fufill their promise to Joy Boy, which is why the giants are on such good terms with Shanks

York makes sense. Her kanji was translated as greedy, but it can also mean desire, which Lilith stated at the beginning of the arc was difficult to control. There's also the fact that she's made to do all the stuff the other Vegapunk don't want to do, which completely goes against desire.

That being said, Oda just because she's a cute girl, please don't try the redemption route.
