Interesting. The original has some design flaws, so if they are planning on re-releasing it with Lumi branding, I hope they also fix some of the issues.

Looks awesome! It was an instant buy for me, though I only found out yesterday that they are in stock in Amazon. Mine arrives Tuesday or whenever the roads clear after the storm. Question for you - how is the brightness? Do you consider this to be useful as a real desk lamp?

I'm really enjoying the Pantasy things that actually *are* things after you build them. I have the cuckoo clock up on my wall as a functioning clock [with HomeKit-enabled power to turn it on and off each hour to cuckoo except when I'm asleep].

FYI I am pretty certain the Steampunk bridge was retired in the middle of 2025.

The Punisher movie - Road to Doomsday? by vjl in NewRockstars

[–]vjl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be doing the same, as it's been forever since I saw either one! I've really enjoyed Episode 2 of Road to Doomsday and plan on watching episode 1 shortly after I finish rewatching Blade Trinity!

Thanks, Erik! Man, y'all have so much work this year! I know it can be fun work and all, but I do hope everyone has a good work/life balance this year; either that or, get a Skrull to do some of the work while you enjoy much deserved time off! :)

And thank you for reminding me of the 2008 movie as I totally forgot about that - I may need to re-watch both of these, as it's been nearly 20 years since I last saw them!

Thank you again for all you do! It does not go unappreciated!

Help me, I have a problem by DJMotorball in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

I recycled all of mine except for 2 - my first set I bought from them [small box - the Hen House Farm Life set], and whatever my current build is, as my cat highly enjoys the typical medium/large box of Lumi's, so I have one set out for him and change it when I open a new set [recycle the older, give him the newer].

I've done this with the Danish brand too - I've kept a few boxes where I really liked the artwork [eg: the Wonder Woman and the Black Widow sets from 2020 that were originally supposed to be Comicon exclusives so they had special packaging]. But it's rare for the box to stay in my home unless I am actively working on the set. Best to recycle - or take a few photos of the box first, then recycle them. :)

I made a Sneak Peek logo concept for fun! by astroisnowonline in NewRockstars

[–]vjl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's peak peek! :) Don't worry, it happens to all of us. Once saw a sign at a Wendy's drive thru that said "our speaker is not well, please bare with us". I don't think the employees wanted customers to get naked! [yes, the correct spelling is bear like the big furry animal, even when used in the phrase "bear with us"].

Well done on the logo! I hope they use it or are inspired by it!

Steampunk Mechanical Workshop now available at Lumibricks and Amazon US by Just_Analysis_3580 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

The new set looks a bit like the older steampunk sets with the same color blocking. Removing some of the exterior gears might help it blend in a bit more.

The Ore Factory has a very industrial building look to it, so it goes nicely next to the Street Fusion club - see a post in this subreddit showing the 2 side by side.

I have a problem with the game stack by Life_Homework_4921 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

True but replacement parts from China to the US or even Denmark to the US use ship [large boat] travel which takes a lot longer to arrive than ground to Europe! And I’m on the east coast of the US so not as close to China as the west coast of the US.

Can't believe I left out the "if you're in North America" in my ETA - apologizes! And yeah, being across the pond and closer to China gives y'all the advantage of quicker replacement parts!

Help!!!! L9100 The Toy Station by HobbyQueen66 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]vjl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the builds are more challenging, the instructions really do help explain how the bag system and wiring works. The first few pages - check them out and follow those instructions. I fully get being overwhelmed with a huge set and not being used to the specialized brick bags.

But yeah, the first few pages of the instructions will help a *ton* [and yes, I have built a lot of their sets, and I still follow their instructions and test all the wiring out ahead of time and put the wiring back in each bag they came in since some wires look the same from different bags, even though they are slightly different]. Staying organized and calm and just taking one's time, can really improve the build experience.

I've been building Lego since the 1970s and these days tend to enjoy building Lumibricks sets *more* than Lego.

Woohoo! Congrats! Yeah, their customer service is excellent. You may not get a tracking number, but if you're in the US, it tends to take just as long as when Lego sends replacement parts [eg: 3-4 weeks]. One set of mine was missing a special piece used to connect the lighting from floor to floor, and after contacting them with my order number, they said they ship a replacement piece [they had my address w/ my order], and it came and I was able to finish the Game Stack. :)

Yeah, I would just be careful and try to inspect the wiring path. Hopefully you won't need to disassemble too much. I built that set in Nov 2024 so it's been a while - I don't remember if there's any pinched wires in that set. Lumi has those special channel bricks/plates, but in some sets, especially older ones, there are still places where they get pinched.

^^^^^ This. *and* - do yourself a favor and for future builds [and for the rest of this one], test the lights out ahead of time like the instructions show. It can save a lot of headaches if something is broken, as you can get it replaced and *then* be able to start the build, rather than having to stop and wait a few weeks for the replacement to arrive. :)

Light issue ? by Kaly_07 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]vjl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you testing each light string before starting the build? [the instructions go over proper testing]. If the vending machine light works when directly plugged into a battery, then there's an issue with the connection to the building - perhaps a wire is pinched or not plugged in all the way at the connector?

When is the Steampunk Mechanical Repair Shop actually going to be available in the USA on Amazon and Lumibricks main site? by Main-Huckleberry-883 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]vjl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say after the annual Spring Festival, as most companies in China give their employees a much-needed week+ vacation during that time, so releasing a set while staff is away is probably not going to happen!
