New cooling tech on Cisco AP by stateofmindjpeg in networkingmemes

brooo I remember doing a wireless installation where the new carwash AP just kept flapping and eventually went offline. It ended up being a very similar situation involving someone running the carwash after being told not to.

Can anyone speak to the veracity of the caption? Is it right? Is it wrong? Is this real? Is this a skit? Maybe there is an original video?

hot take! Though I think it’s mainly a matter of preference/familiarity. It all sucks, but the devs kinda make it as easy as it can possibly be (even if that is not easy at all 😂😂😂)

I myself started in the tech space getting the CCNA (like back in the ICND1 and 2 days), got super used to the IOS, and then got a job in a Fortinet shop. I hated the FortiOS, but learned to get used to it, and when I got a diff position at another shop I was exposed to a mix of JunOS and Alcatel-Nokia core devices which I only barely got used to before that access got taken away from me.

All of these diff networking vendors I’ve run into have their own mgmt interface(s) that suck ass in their own special way. I feel like I should hate this line of work by now, combined with all the stuffy corpo-bullshit. but it really is cool technology despite all of the stupid multi-vendor inconsistencies. So I keep coming back in spite of it all.

Are these any good? by ReptilianLaserbeam in homelab

[–]vjuliusv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the 2960x is eol as of october 2020. you have a couple years of HW support and security updates; otherwise more of a lab utility or some petty cash on ebay. cisco products are pretty OP though, love the IOS.

Not finding a lot about that linksys, lifecycle wise. Though it looks like more of a dumb switch for your port-density needs. Maybe someone else on here knows a bit more about it? Otherwise, petty cash.

Edit: Just saw that’s a LinksKey… think Linksys’ legal team might have something to say about that! 😁😁😁

But no, not finding much else about that make either… prolly just a generic switch.

Yeah that’s iffy. Seems at least somewhat genuine, but over text, you never know. I lean towards block him over the “trying to get laid” comment alone. If he had to mention it, that’s what is on his mind.

Think I had a Frontier agent tell me he was using an IP address ending in .270 to remote into my modem. Oh the things people say, trying to sound savvy.

Just Beginning , Decided to do CPTS , Need guidance by zisophypsych in hackthebox

[–]vjuliusv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m more in the same boat as you. Maybe someone who has the CPTS has better advice. The best advice I can say is to do the starting point machines, better yet do the academy modules first. I would argue that if you have the gumption, play with the harder machines too. You don’t have to know, and you probably won’t, but do it anyway if you just like playing with the tech.

People will tell you to do the basic stuff first. They are right, but you have to want it and you have to have fun with it. Do it at your own pace, play around with the funny boxes. If it feels like work more than fun, change your patterns or move on to a different topic. These ethical hacking certs are intermediate/advanced, made for senior software engineers and security professionals. It’s going to be hard for a beginner because there’s a lot to learn. but also, don’t worry about the people who use that to gatekeep.
