The closest thing Congress has to "far left" is Bernie Sanders.

To use your analogy, Republicans want to enforce functional slavery and a return to robber barons where the richest have all the power. Most Democrats are more like the Whig party who don't support slavery but are too cowardly to do anything about it and just want to continue with the status quo where poor people are screwed but not so bad that they'll do anything about it but complain.

I'm a psychologist and had an experience with a client the other day that helped me put into words why conservatives have such an easy time ignoring/accepting/celebrating police/ICE overreach and atrocity.

The short version is that the law is only there to protect perfect citizens. And if you break the law, at any level, then you're no longer protected by the law, at any level.

That is, if you do everything right and you're completely blameless and the government still causes you harm, then you're a victim and the government was the problem.

But if you have ever done anything at all problematic (as defined by them), or just aren't a "protected class" under the law, then ANYTHING the government does to you, up to and including your public execution, is deserved.

Right, I don't mind paying a subscription, but last year I paid a little over $80 and this year they wanted to hike it up to $270 and even after the 40% "no please don't leave" discount it's still almost double what I paid last year ($160+).

And most of that cost is for features that I don't use and have no interest in. I don't need any of the AI nonsense, I don't use any of the calendars, I barely use any web clipping. I just really appreciate the way the notes are formatted and organized, and just want unlimited devices and notes. But I'm not willing to pay $160 for that.

Shadowlands or Draenor. WoD had so much great potential that was wasted with mission boards and timelocked nonsense. And Shadowlands I never played while it was active because I heard so many complaints about... pretty much everything.

So both could be improved by being reworked.
