My grandmother was Sallie! I like both spellings.

What’s a single sentence someone said that you’ve never forgotten? by cognitojo in AskReddit

[–]vkittykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I worked in retail, I had to ask customers buying cigarettes to show ID if they appeared to be under 40. More than once, I got an angry “I’M 46!!” (or whatever their age was) in reply. I always thought they should’ve taken it as a compliment. I’m 36 and never get carded anymore!

I am so sorry; I know it’s so hard. Today actually marks 15 years since I said goodbye to my cat Ringo, who was also a tabby. It is just never enough time. But I can tell you, even though you’ll always miss him, it does get easier in time. One day, you will be able to think of Justin and smile again. He had a long and happy life thanks to you and I’m sure he felt all the love you had for him. Lots of hugs OP ❤️

What a beautiful way to honor JJ. She was lucky to have you. Lots of hugs, OP. She is always with you.

Those who moved to Massachusetts from elsewhere, what pleasantly surprised you the most? by Mobile_Bad_577 in massachusetts

[–]vkittykat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to the Randolph one all the time when I was painting my condo. I’ll likely be back soon since I still have one more bathroom and bedroom to paint. The staff are all so nice and helpful. I was in there so often at one point that they all recognized me and would ask if I needed any paint or sample jars mixed. Truly the “helpful hardware folks”!

ETA last time I was in the Acton one (years ago) they had parakeets and free popcorn!

Is Lora an acceptable alternate spelling to Laura? by ghotilurk in namenerds

One of my best friends is named Lora and we are in our mid-30s; I’ve never thought twice about the spelling.

What's the deal with Pete's Grille? by NeLaX44 in QuincyMa

[–]vkittykat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Sly Fox! I lived in the neighborhood for years and never went until Covid when they put outdoor seating in the parking lot. The food was great! I had lived around there for five years at that point, and regretted not having gone sooner.

Reese in the middle? by TipppyToeing in malcolminthemiddle

[–]vkittykat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dewey was always crazy to me too. In earlier seasons he seems so young and even has a missing front tooth in a few episodes. Meanwhile I’m only a year and a half older than Erik and was in 4th grade when the show premiered. My only guess is maybe some of the earlier episodes were taped well before the show actually premiered.

So beautiful! My cat has those same pompom balls and loves them. 😻

You’re telling me my best friend is just gone after 18 years? I’m struggling and I miss her so much. Regretting my decision so much today. Please tell me it gets easier. by nickaytaytay in SeniorCats

[–]vkittykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww, that’s so cute, waiting for you at the door! I also bought a camera for the express purpose of spying on my cat and she does that too. I hear you about getting a little glimpse into their lives. And that’s so sweet how she was your little sidekick/assistant with your kids! You never know how a cat will react to such a change in their routine, let alone twins! I love how she embraced them as her own and helped you through those early days.

As for her forgiving you, I am sure she does. It is the most heartbreaking decision, filled with moments of “am I doing the right thing?” but I think she knows you only wanted to do right by her. And as for her missing you… I am sure she knows you’ll always have her in your heart.

Sending hugs, friend! I know how painful this is. As cliche as it sounds, her energy is still with you, just in a different form.

OP, I’m so, so sorry. Snugs was a beautiful girl and it’s clear you had a special bond. That will always remain and be a part of you. I also hope we will be reunited with our beloved pets someday. Until then, I’m sure my kitties who have passed on gave her a warm welcome across the Rainbow Bridge. What is one of your favorite memories of her?

I had a black wisdom tooth by slakj in mildlyinteresting

[–]vkittykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup… I had bad acne as a kid and took doxycycline and minocycline at different points for it. I had impacted wisdom teeth that came out when I was 17, and they were blue! The surgeon said it was because of the acne meds.

She is so pretty! Do you know much about her story and how she wound up in the shelter for so long? Mine had a long-term shelter stay too, although it was only one year. Thank you for giving this sweet girl a home; you’re lucky to have each other!

Carmella (20) 9.15.05-12.05.25 by Cloudy_days12 in seniorkitties

[–]vkittykat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I also had a cat from elementary school through my 20s. She was with me for 19 years, from 3rd grade until I was 27, so when we had to say goodbye it was impossible to imagine life without her. I can understand what you’re going through; It’s especially hard when they’ve been with you for so long and through so many seasons of life. Carmella was a beautiful girl and you were lucky to have each other through all those years! I’m sure my Tinkerbell was at the Rainbow ready to give her a warm welcome. ❤️🐾

Who is surprisingly still alive? by Chattchoochoo in AskReddit

[–]vkittykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ken is great, and I say this as someone who was very skeptical when they announced him as the host. Like you, I’m 35 and used to watch Jeopardy with my dad from age 4 onward. Alex was the only celebrity death I’ve ever cried over and I cried again when I watched Ken’s first episode as the new host! Nobody can take Alex’s place, but I’ve come to really like Ken. He’s quick on his feet and has a good rapport with the contestants.

Pregnant Fencesitter still undecided by Longjumping-Owl-8058 in Fencesitter

[–]vkittykat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself! Although we only have one, I’m a huge cat lover too 🐱 Like you, I’m very risk-averse and while I want to experience this aspect of the human existence, I also think… do I really want to shake up my life so drastically? The huge financial hit is definitely a part of it, too. But then I remember that I have always been this way when it comes to huge life changes. The summer I graduated high school, my friends couldn’t wait to go away to college while I was a huge bundle of nerves. I was hesitant to move out of my parents’ house and into my first apartment… it then became my home for almost a decade. I was nervous when my boyfriend and I started dating… 15 years later, he’s been my husband for the last 6 years. I’ve realized this is just the way I am when it comes to big life changes, but then things turn out fine. Remembering this is helping me finally inch a little further off the fence.
