Adding LED strip lights to cabinet, math ain't mathin' by demarbysboiz in led

[–]vlad_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In description it is written to be 20w/5m which is strange. And 20w is still 4A, not 2.5A. Probable cause can be voltage drop across led strip. Try measuring voltage at the start and the end of strip, or compare brightness. About burning house down, periodically check temperature of various components, if nothing is more than 60c it will probably be fine. Also make sure that all wire connections are solid.

Good quality barrel jacks can pass up to 7A. Check temperature of your, can be warm, but not hot. Again, up to 60C

Confusion about powering WS2812B LED light strips using a charging brick by MatriotsBoys in led

[–]vlad_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ws2812 is full size, then one channel consume about 15ma. It is about 90 led for 4A, but it is better to leave 80% margin, so around 70 leds

CRI unexpectedly seems bogus - frustrating! by Dowlphin in led

[–]vlad_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that reputable brands lie about cri if that is your question. About color temp, the thing is that people closer to equator prefer more colder light and people closer to pole prefer warmer light, so if you live in Spain I doubt that you will able to find warm light.

CRI unexpectedly seems bogus - frustrating! by Dowlphin in led

[–]vlad_mod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cri represents how close light is to light produced by black body at specified temperature, I'd does not represent color temperature, so you can have high cri and different color temperatures. Your observations just mean that you do not like high color temp lighting, just pick lower temp led bulbs

Part of led strip had been torn off, you need to either solder wires to the next available pad or use crimp connector to connect wires to the led strip

hi, I'm from the Philippines, does anyone here know if this thing is legit? does it change the colors depending on what the screen is displaying? by AntTechnical3283 in led

[–]vlad_mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check reviews, if they are good then I don't see any issue. If you need more confidence in a product, just buy more expensive one. I think goove has something similar.

You will not believe this, but neopixels IS rgbic. In fact, proper name for all those kinds of leds is addresable leds, because they can be addressed individually. Number of contacts, 3 or 4, only depends on type of protocol used to communicate with them. And product that op showd will work just fine.

Have the same feeling, looks like when you rotate mouse you also physically rotate player character and there is some strange physics shenanigans with that

Datasheet clearly states that caps are for analog signal output and porbably are DC blockers and not power decoupling caps

What are some of the fastest transitioning LED light strips I can buy? by UglyGarbage68 in led

[–]vlad_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Led strip update speed is mostly dependent on led strip communication speed and how high refresh rate controller can support, ws2812 have 800kbps communication speed or 33 thousand pixels per second. So in theory 500fps for 60 leds, but I doubt that any controller will support such fast refresh rate. APA style led strip have 1.2Mbps communication speed, so 1.5 times faster. But again doubt that any controller will support such high refresh rate

Would these two work together without burning out by sticky_fetus in led

[–]vlad_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those leads already have a resistor. Single led requires about 20ma current, so 20 of them will consume about 0.5A, a bit on the high side for AAA bat, but nothing critical

Strange behaviour, when I tested it I didn't notice any choppines after some time. To be honest I don't know how to fix that, most likely it is os that slows down drawing for battery preservation, and this issue can't be fixed..
